Once considered the most anticipated FPS game of 2021, Battlefield 2042 has become the most unpopular title in the Battlefield series three months after its release. In addition to changing many player-favorite features, including classes and maps, the EA has also been criticized for the optimization of the game itself.
Although "Battlefield 2042" tried to save word-of-mouth with a fracture offer shortly after its release, the reality was so cruel that everything EA did subsequently became futile. At this stage, the number of players in Battlefield 2042 has plummeted, with a daily peak of less than 6,000 players lower than Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5.
For this game, even the plug-in production company gave up. Some of the players who are still insisting have not obtained a better gaming experience because of the smaller number of players in the same service, and even said that they have been treated more unfairly.
Recently, a South African player said on the Reddit forum that the only way to play Battlefield 2042 with a lower ping is through portal mode. But since there are now hardly enough players to populate multiple servers, the first player to create a server that day can control the gaming experience for players throughout South Africa.
The first player to create the server can be considered a "homeowner", and although he didn't pay more to buy the game and wasn't a VIP member, he was qualified to kick anyone out of the server. In the case of high ping, players in South Africa can only go along with it.
However, people who are currently dissatisfied with Battlefield 2042 and EA have already lined up, and not long ago someone launched a vote on the petition website change.org asking EA to refund the game unconditionally. As long as the number of petitions reaches 50,000, there will be class-action lawyers willing to help players sue EA. And this "small goal" was quickly achieved.
In order to get more attention, the promoter of this vote also raised the ceiling to 75,000. It also makes the vote for "Battlefield 2042 Unconditional Refund" one of the most signed petitions on the Change.org.
Battlefield 2042's poor stats also dampened EA's enthusiasm for further refinement of the game's content, and many of the original update schedules were further delayed.
In the future, it is not excluded that EA will turn Battlefield 2042 into a free-to-play game, and the declining number of online players will make EA have to make a quick decision.
