Suspected of racial discrimination and harassment? California intends to sue Tesla!

On February 9, local time, Tesla said that the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) intends to sue the company, accusing its Fremont factory in California of a series of misconduct such as racial discrimination and harassment of employees between 2015 and 2019.

Tesla said that despite repeated requests from the company, regulators have refused to provide a factual basis for specific allegations or lawsuits. The company also said the Justice Department had previously investigated allegations of harassment of employees but had found no evidence of misconduct.

Tesla has been subjected to similar allegations several times in recent years. In 2021, two female employees filed a lawsuit alleging a "hostile work environment" for women at Tesla's Fremont facility; in October of the same year, a U.S. court ruled that Tesla's workplace was racially discriminatory, and the company's African-American contractor was awarded $137 million.
