At Lanzhou Station on the eve of the Spring Festival, passengers in a hurry stepped onto the train home. On this day of family reunion, Li Haidong still gave up the opportunity to reunite with his family again as in previous years and stuck to his post.
"Since becoming a SWAT team member in August 2019, I have not been home for 3 consecutive Spring Festivals. When I was young, my father died for some reason, and now my mother lives alone in the family, and the only sister can only go home to accompany her when she rests after work. Li Haidong said.
In a heart-to-heart talk organized by the unit, Li Haidong expressed his desire to accompany his mother for the New Year. On January 30, in the early morning of the 28th lunar month, Li Ang, the deputy commander of the detachment who was off duty, arrived in Min County by train with his comrades-in-arms according to the plan, and then transferred to a car and rushed to Li Haidong's home in Mu'er Town, Zhuoni County, more than 400 kilometers away from Lanzhou. After 4 hours of travel, Li Ang and his party finally met Li Haidong's mother and sister. After arriving home, Li Ang and his comrades-in-arms helped them clean the courtyard and paste the Spring Festival. During the conversation, Li Ang told Li Haidong's mother about Li Haidong's performance in the SWAT detachment, and agreed with her to secretly go to Lanzhou for the New Year and surprise Li Haidong.
On the morning of the 29th of The 29th month, Li Haidong's mother walked into the provincial city for the first time, and she toured the lanzhou urban area accompanied by the off-duty members of the SWAT detachment. In the afternoon, she also visited the POLICE History Museum of the SWAT Detachment and Li Haidong's daily life and work environment. After a series of activities, Li Haidong's mother wrapped "mother's dumplings" for Li Haidong with the ingredients she purchased. After wrapping the "customized dumplings", she and her SWAT team colleagues prepared a Chinese New Year's Eve meal for everyone. At about 19:00, Li Haidong's mother delivered the dumplings to Li Haidong and his colleagues who were on duty at the Lanzhou Station police station, and the unsuspecting Li Haidong actually ate the taste of home.
Halfway through the dumplings, the unit suggested that the comrades on the job record a video for their families. When Li Haidong was telling his thoughts about his family in front of the camera, his mother and sister came to Li Haidong's side surrounded by comrades-in-arms.
