The International Skating Federation issued a statement on the 7th

A statement released on the official website of the International Skating Federation on February 7 local time said that the REFEREE of the International Skating Federation short track speed skating received two appeals during the short track speed skating event of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on February 7.

The statement said the South Korean team appealed the reason for Hwang Daehyun's penalty in the 1,000m semifinals. As announced on the video screen on the field, skater (Huang Daxian) was fined for "violating the rules resulting in (physical) contact"; the Hungarian team complained that Liu Shaolin had received a yellow card in the 1000m Group A final. As announced on the venue's video screen, skater (Liu Shaolin) received a yellow card for two penalties in the same match.

According to the statement, in accordance with Article 123, paragraphs 4 and 5 of the General Provisions of the International Skating Union, the referee confirmed that the above complaint was rejected. The statement also stated that, in fact, under the principles of application on the field, it is not permissible to appeal the decision of the (referee) officer to disqualify or not to disqualify an athlete for violating any of the rules of the competition.

Regardless of the "rules of the game" mentioned above, the referee and video referee reviewed the incident again and supported his final decision, the statement said.

The referee also noted that Hungary's Liu Shaolin slid on the straights but failed to overtake Ren Ziwei (China) in time, so he did not have priority in entering the corner. For Liu Shaolin's second penalty, the referee pointed out that this penalty was Liu Shaolin's obstruction behavior at the end of the line, and the blocking foul occurred twice, so it must be punished.
