The International Skating Federation issued a statement rejecting the south Korean and Hungarian short track speed skating men's 1000m complaints

In the men's 1000m final of the Short Track Speed Skating At the Beijing Winter Olympics held on the evening of February 7, Beijing time, China's Ren Ziwei won the gold medal, and Li Wenlong ranked second and won the silver medal. South Korea's Hwang Dae-hyun was awarded a foul in the semi-final Group 1 match, and Hungary's Liu Shaolin was also cancelled for a yellow card. According to the statement released on the official website of the International Skating Federation on the 8th, the International Skating Federation rejected the South Korean team's complaint, indicating that the fine was not forfeited, and also rejected the Hungarian team's appeal against Liu Shaolin's penalty.

A statement released on the official website of the International Skating Federation on February 7 local time said that the REFEREE of the International Skating Federation short track speed skating received two appeals during the short track speed skating event of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on February 7.

The statement said the South Korean team appealed the reason for Hwang Daehyun's penalty in the 1,000m semifinals. As announced on the video screen on the field, skater (Huang Daxian) was fined for "violating the rules resulting in (physical) contact"; the Hungarian team complained that Liu Shaolin had received a yellow card in the 1000m Group A final. As announced on the venue's video screen, skater (Liu Shaolin) received a yellow card for two penalties in the same match. The first penalty was imposed because "contact was caused by changing lanes from the inside out in the straights" and the second was due to "obstruction with an arm at the finish line".

According to the statement, in accordance with Article 123, paragraphs 4 and 5 of the General Provisions of the International Skating Union, the referee confirmed that the above complaint was rejected. The statement also stated that, in fact, under the principles of application on the field, it is not permissible to appeal the decision of the (referee) officer to disqualify or not to disqualify an athlete for violating any of the rules of the competition.

The statement also said that the referee had watched the incident with the video referee and eventually insisted on his own penalty.
