On December 15, Beijing time, the first competition day of the Seoul Station of the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup began. In the preliminaries in the morning session, a number of exciting duels were staged. Liu Shaolin and Liu Shaoang brothers both advanced first in the 1000m preliminaries, and the mixed relay Chinese team was judged to have committed a foul for a low-level mistake.
In the men's 1000m preliminaries, Liu Shaoang played in the third group, and he ranked first in the group with a time of 1:25.201 and successfully qualified. Liu Shaolin, who played in the 7th group, skated a time of 1:28.561 and also advanced to the top of the group. Ren Ziwei finished third in Group 5 with a time of 1:29.056 and will compete in the repechage.
In the women's 1500m 1/4 finals, Chinese players Gong Li and Wang Ye ranked the top two in Group 1 with a time of 2:49.894 and 2:49.988 respectively, and Zang Yize ranked first in Group 6 with a time of 2:57.297, and all three entered the semifinals.
In the men's 1500m (1) 1/4 finals, China's Sun Long won the first place in Group 2 with a time of 2:26.206, Li Wenlong and Song Jiahua played in Group 4, and the two ranked in the top 2 groups with a time of 2:34.477 and 2:34.638 respectively, and all three entered the semifinals.
In Group 1 of the mixed relay 1/4 finals, the Chinese team sent Fan Kexin, Wang Xinran, Li Wenlong, and Sun Long to play. Although the Chinese team led the way all the way, Wang Xinran was judged to have committed a foul when Wang Xinran went to the road with Fan Kexin half a lap in advance during the second handover, and missed the next semi-finals.
