What was it like to work at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory? In addition to creating a record of delivering more than 480,000 pure electric vehicles a year, what else does Tesla bring to the automotive industry? As early as October 2020, tesla actively contacted and communicated with Shanghai Electric Power University to carry out a degree improvement plan in order to meet the strong needs of employees to upgrade their academic qualifications and enhance their skills, and reached a cooperation consensus in November of the same year.

In the case of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, Tesla tailored course planning for employees, and sent teachers to enterprises by combining production shifts to open parallel classes, which not only comprehensively solved the engineering and academic contradictions of employees, but also invested great energy and material resources in logistics issues such as transportation and dining. Under the cultivation of customized programs, the overall professional skills and intelligent manufacturing literacy of the production line employees participating in the project have been improved, which not only provides a strong guarantee for the later development of employees, but also continuously outputs more high-quality talents for the development of the industry.

What you learn is what you need, and what you have now is high energy

After combining the actual needs of employees and making rapid discussion and decision-making, Tesla's academic qualification improvement plan sets the professional direction to automation, mechanical design and manufacturing, electrical engineering and other popular and highly practical majors. After the project is publicized, employees can register independently, and after the qualification review and adult college entrance examination, they will form a class and start the course study.

The first phase of the project, with nearly 300 employees, was officially established in January 2021. Employees can take advantage of 1 day of the 2-day break to study directly at the factory, and Tesla also provides them with free shuttles and meals. Employees involved in the project generally said that the courses they learned were required for the position, and the skills they gained could be used in practice.

In order to encourage employees to actively participate, Tesla will also comprehensively evaluate the learning achievements of students and provide employees with promotion and career development opportunities. The second phase of the project has been fully launched at the end of 2021, and nearly 600 people have registered so far, and the entrance examination will be organized after the Spring Festival.

Engineering and learning are not wrong, and the future can be expected

Tesla has long been committed to accelerating the sustainable development of talent. It has school-enterprise cooperation projects, new talent induction training projects, fresh college students training projects, employee professional skills improvement, manager training projects and other businesses. Covering more than 10,000 employees in manufacturing, logistics quality, after-sales service and other business sectors.

In the academic upgrading program, Tesla not only provides complete logistical support for participating employees, but also prepares generous material rewards for students. More importantly, Tesla docks with the national education unit, and after the course, employees can obtain nationally recognized academic certificates, providing a solid foundation and a new stage for employees to make progress and leap forward in the future. Speaking of the harvest of the course, Xiao Zhang, an employee who participated in the first phase of the project, could not hide his excitement: "In a company like Tesla, you can learn the real skills, workers can not only rely on their own hands and struggle to win a better tomorrow, the company also provides everyone with a platform for progress and strong support." ”

The cultivation of talents in China's new energy industry has always been an important part of Tesla's localization strategy, and in the past two years, Tesla has also cultivated a talent pool in the whole industry chain from front-line operators, to cutting-edge technical talents, to management talents in the new energy industry. In this project, Tesla has tried its best to reduce the participation threshold, so that willing employees can sign up to participate independently, which not only builds a perfect and advanced knowledge structure for employees, but also provides a complete and efficient learning and training system. Through flexible teaching methods and production arrangements, parallel class teaching plans are formulated, so that employees can complete their studies and obtain high gold content academic certificates in their rest time after work.

Tesla's series of measures also provide a paradigm for the cultivation of localized talents for China's new energy automobile industry, provide a solid talent foundation for the accelerated development of China's intelligent vehicles, and will also allow China-made Tesla to exude new charm on the international stage.
