Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid: David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez win

David Alaba celebrated after scoring Real Madrid's first goal against Barcelona

On Sunday, goals from David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez in each half gave Real Madrid a 2-1 win at Barcelona, leading Barca fans to face off against Ronald Koeman as they left camp Nou after the game.

Alaba — who made his national derby debut — opened the scoring with a heavy long-range shot 32 minutes later before Vazquez doubled the away team's lead in second-half stoppage time.

Despite Sergio Aguero coming off the bench and also taking the comfort of being late for Barcelona in his national derby debut, Madrid insisted on handing over his first managerial victory at Camp Nou to Carlo Ancelotti.

As a result, Real Madrid are second in the La Liga table in terms of goal difference with Sevilla and are one point behind league leaders Real Sociedad after a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. Barca, meanwhile, are eighth.

A group of supporters can be seen crashing into Koeman's car and reacting angrily to their recent defeat as the 58-year-old tries to drive away from the stadium.

In response, Barcelona posted a statement on their official Twitter account that read: "Barcelona publicly condemns the violence and contempt our manager experienced while leaving Camp Nou.

"The club will take safety and disciplinary measures to prevent such unfortunate incidents from happening again."

How Real Madrid beat Barcelona

If there's a strange feeling in the air in Catalonia before the start of the first national derby of the La Liga season, it could be because it's the first game since 2004 between the two main rivals without Lionel Messi or Sergio Ramos.

All of this may explain the lack of strength in the first half hour, with the best moment being a horrific blunder after Serginot Deste performed well on the left side of Memphis Depay after seemingly being hit in the set.

Perhaps this lucky escape woke up Real Madrid, who took the lead after Alaba's brilliant breakthrough goal, where Alaba won back possession on the edge of his own penalty area, before Vinicius and Rodrigo carried the ball into Barca's half.

However, Alaba still had a lot to do after being selected by Rodrigo's sharp pass, with the Austrian international making a sharp turn from the edge of the penalty area to find the top right corner of the net.

Real Madrid's half-time lead was taken for granted, although 10 minutes before half-time, Gerald Pique was just inches away from the home team's header and Barcelona boss Koeman then decided to bring in former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho at half-time.

The second quarter was cautious, with Madrid looking for a second goal mostly on the counter, while Benzema almost delivered the goal with 18 minutes left.

Koeman then faced Aguero,000 other former Premier League player, but in injury time Real Madrid scored the crucial next goal, while substitute Marco Asensio's low shot was only partially blocked by Mark Andre. Ter Stegen went all out to allow Vasquez to score easily on the far post.

Aguero prepared a low-post centre-forward at home for his first Krasico goal, but in the case of Koeman and Barca it was too few and too late as the Dutchman became the second manager in history to lose the first three games to Lasico.

Barcelona coach Ronaldo Koeman: "I think the team did everything in their power to improve the level of play, but we didn't have much time after falling behind 2-1. We were disappointed with the results but not disappointed with what we did as a team.

"In today's game we showed that we were not inferior to Madrid, but instead of taking a 1-0 lead, we went 1-0 behind, which had a huge impact on the game.

"But I think we show that we're improving little by little, we're closer to winning an important game and that's the way it is.

"Usually in Crassico, if you're Barcelona, that means [more than just losing three points]. I totally understand this. But there was no time to cry about that because on Wednesday we had another game. ”

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti: "I think it's a practical and smart show. We defended well, we had the ball in the first half, we could have organised better from behind, we had some passing mistakes but it was very effective against our counter-attack.

"Obviously this team has that strength and we have to use it. That's all. I'm so happy that we got three points. It's a tough game. Barcelona's performance made our game tough. It wasn't an easy game and the fact that we won made us happy.

"I think we're competitive. This team is very solid and our goal is to stay solid on the road further afield. It's something we plan to do, but we have to take into account that we played really good games against a great team and made our lives tough.

"But the fact that we were able to suffer together and not lose control even when we didn't have the ball was our strength."
