David · Raya is expected to rest for Arsenal's Carabao Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers after picking up an injury against Manchester City.
The Spain goalkeeper will start the 2024/25 season in incredible form. After a stellar performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby, Raya made headlines with a stunning two saves in the UEFA Champions League draw with Atalanta. He then saved the Gunners on a number of occasions in Sunday's 2-2 draw with the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium.
However, in the second half of their charming stalemate with Manchester City, Raya had to deal with injuries. He played the whole game but will be ruled out of Arsenal's next game. The Daily Mail reports that Raya still has knee problems and, while not believed to be serious, Arsenal will not risk it and will miss him for Wednesday's trip to Bolton at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Gunners lacked goalkeeper options in the third round. Substitute goalkeeper Neto played a second-round game for Bournemouth before a loan move to north London and is currently drawing in cup ties, while 18-year-old summer signing Tommy · Thetford has recently been out of action due to fitness issues.
That left manager Mikel · Arteta with no choice but to bring on 16-year-old Jack · Porter, who has only made six appearances for their Under-18s and once for their Under-21s. Graham Potter was part of the squad for Sunday's trip to Manchester City but was not named in the matchday squad. Raya should be available again for Arsenal's Premier League game at home to Leicester City on Saturday.
