Beijing, October 21 (Reporter Sun Zifa) Reporter learned from the Bureau of Science Communication of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the 21st that the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club, which aims to "bridge" between scientists and young people, has celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, and in the past 20 years, the club has established 124 academic guidance centers relying on scientific research institutes and universities, and more than 2,300 members have participated in "scientific research practice" training.

The conference "Creating Opportunities for Tomorrow's Outstanding Scientists--- Review and Prospect of the 20th Anniversary of Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club" was recently held in Beijing. The conference said that this year is the twentieth year of the establishment of the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club, at present, the club has established 124 academic guidance centers relying on scientific research institutes and universities, 721 academicians, experts and professors as scientific research mentors, more than 2,300 members of 31 base schools have participated in the "scientific research practice" training, and a group of former members of about 30 years old have now become leaders in the field of scientific research at home and abroad.

According to reports, in 1998, in order to build a bridge between scientists and teenagers and create opportunities for tomorrow's scientific and technological talents, the then 75-year-old academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous astronomer and an expert in science education, Wang Shouzhen, began to create the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club. In June 1999, the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club was officially established, and at the launching ceremony, Academician Lu Yongxiang, then president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a report entitled "The Past, Present and Future of Science" for more than 100 middle school students, and answered students' questions together with Wang Shouzhen and Qian Wenzao.

After the establishment of the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club, the main task is to organize and carry out a series of activities such as field science investigation, science forum, thesis review, scientific famous lectures, science culture salons, "science popularization small lecturers", campus science popularization, etc. under the leadership of the team of scientists, to guide outstanding high school students who are interested in science and have spare energy to "approach science", enter China's front-line scientific research groups for experience, and find "scientific seedlings" from them to help them "enter science" in time.
