When the Internet came to the small mountain village of | at an altitude of 1700 meters Spring Festival Notes

Erxianyan Village is the highest village in Xianfeng County, Enshi, Hubei Province, and the traffic is relatively inconvenient

Tian Qin, 33, is a village cadre in Erxianyan Village, Huolongping Township, Xianfeng County, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, and she has not been out of the county until she was 19 years old.

Xianfeng County was once a poor county, and Erxianyan Village is the highest village here, with a maximum point of 1700 meters.

Twenty years ago, only by reading books could the children of the village go to the town, to the county seat, and even to the world farther away, outside the mountains. Ten years ago, life in the village and life in the town were separated by a 20-minute drive from the winding road, and the five-day market was an important centralized procurement activity for the villagers.

In the past ten years, Tian Qin, as a village cadre, has witnessed and participated in the changes in the village: drinking water project, power grid transformation, road hardening, dangerous house transformation, broadband into the village...

A thousand threads above, a needle at the bottom. The work of the village committee is complicated, and in the past ten years, her relationship with the villagers has come out step by step, it is said in a word, and it is grinded out one thing after another.

Under her impetus, last year, the terminal tentacles of the e-commerce platform penetrated deep into her mountain village for the first time, and some changes have taken place in the Village this Spring Festival.

Here's what she said:

Opportunity

The Spring Festival is the most lively time in the village these days, the young people who work outside have returned, the cars are driving back one by one, and the people in the village are suddenly more than half. At this time, every household also began to prepare New Year goods.

Unlike in previous years, this year there are significantly fewer people going to the town to rush to the market to buy New Year goods, and before they entered the street, they saw that everywhere was crowded, and the bargaining shouts were louder than a sound. This year, many people in the village have a new way to prepare New Year goods: last year, the fresh e-commerce platform entered our village for the first time, and everyone can buy it directly from the Internet.

This was unthinkable before. Our Erxianyan village is remote, and before the express delivery could only be delivered to the town, who would have thought that even vegetables could be sent to the village this year?

I am 33 years old, the youngest group of people in the village, and I learn new things quickly. In the first half of 2021, I stumbled upon a "Tao Cai Cai" storefront in the town. A restaurant owner set aside a storefront to do this part-time, which was full of fresh vegetables and other goods. I am no stranger to online shopping, but I was surprised to see that there are many anti-seasonal vegetables and fruits on the Taocai vegetable platform, which cannot be bought in the rush market.

My aunt is 60 years old and runs a supermarket in the village. Last year's Dragon Boat Festival, I bought some fruits and drinks on the platform to see her, and by the way, I mentioned that the Taocai dishes were ordered and delivered the next day. My aunt came to be interested and asked me how to use it. After a few days, she consulted with me to make her own supermarket into a pick-up point, and it would be convenient for people in the village to buy some food in the future.

A mountain village in flux

Erxianyan Village is the highest village in Xianfeng County, with an average of about 1400 meters, our scenery here is very beautiful, the mountains are foggy, and when you look into the distance, you feel like you live in the clouds. But this also means some inconvenience, when it rains a lot, the village's solar street lights will be insufficient.

The road to town is winding, and it takes 20 minutes to drive from the village and takes two hours to walk. In addition to catching up with the market, it is generally necessary to go to the town only if there is something that must be done. There was no entertainment in the village, and when I was a child, I was very happy when I arrived at the market. The market is open every five days, the stalls have everything, department stores, clothing and various specialties, I want to eat everything I see, pull my parents to buy me cakes and sugar, and every time I reluctantly wait for the last minibus to go back. The car was always packed, and everyone's fingers were full of plastic bags.

Because of its remote location, the villagers are accustomed to planning their lives in this way. If you buy something from the Internet, wait for the express delivery to the county town, and then transfer to the township express delivery collection point, it basically takes five days, and if it is slow, it will take a week. We will call and communicate with the collection point, put it for a few more days, and then go to the market or have something to go to get.

In the context of targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, the village has slowly undergone some changes over the years. Wooden houses are slowly being built into brick houses, and basketball courts have been built in front of the village committee. More and more hardened paths, more signal towers, and most homes have installed broadband.

In addition to the improvement of infrastructure, the Internet has also penetrated into the usual management of the village. The village committee set up a window for comprehensive services, and we learned to operate the "One Netcom Office" platform on the computer, and the villagers basically did not need to go to the town to do things.

I have been a village cadre for ten years, and now I am the village branch secretary. I still love the job.

After my aunt and I mentioned doing e-commerce that day, I have also been thinking that if I can bring the service of picking vegetables into the village, not only will I have more part-time jobs, but also facilitate the lives of villagers.

New and old

My aunt is old and can't learn to operate on a mobile phone, and the online part is helped by me.

Village cadres often need to go door to door, so I know the situation of each household in the village. There is also a WeChat group in our village, and usually any big and small things are notified in the group. When promoting the platform, I also learned from this method, pulling the villagers into a shopping group, and sending any preferential information to the group.

However, the fresh e-commerce platform is still a new thing in our village, how can we make more people accept it? Every day after work, I went door to door with my aunt, and although the villagers knew me, there were still many people who were suspicious and worried that it was a lie. So on weekends we drive with some fruits, vegetables and milk that we bought from the platform and show them samples. Young people are still more acceptable, but some people are more resistant to "you don't tell me, I don't understand this", and some people want to buy it directly in cash, unwilling to learn the process of operation.

In order to let more villagers try, we also prepared some small gifts, as long as we try to place an order, we will give drinks or corn, and everyone likes this kind of real thing. Most of the elderly did not accept this at first, but seeing that the people around them went to the store every day to bring the dishes home, and the price was really cheap, they ran to my aunt's shop and asked if they could help him buy them. Now, even the nearby villages are slowly like us.

Before the New Year, there are especially many people who come to pick up the goods, almost all of them are bought in advance by children from other places, some are the wines that the father loves to drink, and some are gift boxes for gifts at the New Year. Half the people in the village are in use, and we receive about twenty orders a day.

In addition to placing orders to buy, we can also sell a large number of products in the village through the platform. In September last year, the village cooperative had more than 1 million kilograms of potatoes packaged and sold throughout the country through Alibaba community e-commerce Taocai vegetables, enshi selenium-rich potatoes appeared for the first time at the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival kick-off meeting, and everyone was very proud.

Our Erxian Rock is a key wetland reserve, the scenery on the mountain is particularly good, and there are many medicinal specialties, but unfortunately there is no tourism development. There are few young people in the village, and it is not easy to promote big things. I hope that through this platform, I can sell the specialties in the village and bring more income to the villagers. I would prefer to let more people pay attention to the Erxianyan Village in the mountains.

A thousand threads above, a needle at the bottom.

Villagers' committees thread the needle in the most basic work to serve the villagers, who are geographically and even more the "last mile" of the administrative system.

Community e-commerce has entered the mountain village, and has also played a role in the downward movement of industrial products and the upward movement of agricultural products, and is the "last kilometer" of Internet infrastructure services for a better life.

E-commerce is entering more and more villages. The "2021 National County Digital Agriculture rural e-commerce development report" shows that during the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the function of rural e-commerce in stabilizing production and supply, resuming work and production, and ensuring people's livelihood in the county has been highlighted. In 2020, the online retail sales of 2,083 counties in the country were 3,530.32 billion yuan, accounting for 30% of the national online retail sales.
