The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has begun!
Although the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics will take place on the evening of February 4, some of the longer events will be played before the opening ceremony, including the curling mixed double event, which was first launched on the evening of February 2.
This is the first tournament to be played at the Beijing Winter Olympics and the first competition for the Chinese delegation. In the curling mixed doubles round robin that starts at 20:05 p.m., China will play against Switzerland.
At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, curling mixed doubles became an official event, and China's Ba Dexin/Wang Rui won the fourth place.
Representing the Chinese curling team in the mixed doubles competition this time is the combination of Fan Suyuan and Ling Zhi. While the duo didn't have the strength to compete for medals, their goal was to get better results on their doorstep.
The curling mixed doubles competition is a single-round robin format, with 10 teams from China, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, Norway, Italy, Australia and the Czech Republic participating, and the gold, silver and bronze medalists will be released on February 8.
It is worth mentioning that the curling competition of the Beijing Winter Olympics is divided into mixed doubles, women's and men's three sub-events, which is the longest time and the largest number of competitions in the seven major competitions, and the cumulative number of games will exceed 100 matches. The curling competition begins on February 2 and will continue until the closing ceremony on February 20.
