Manchester United striker Greenwood remains in custody after an overnight detention on suspicion of rape and assault.
A woman posted photos of her severe bleeding from the corners of her mouth on social media, along with related videos and recordings.
The woman wrote on social media: "Let everyone who wants to know Greenwood as a person know what he did to me."
The photos were later urgently deleted on social media and thus did not spread. But the matter is serious and cannot be perfunctory. Even Greenwood is a Manchester United player.
Manchester Police confirmed: We have launched an investigation to confirm that a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in detention for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
On Sunday afternoon, police were photographed arriving at the mansion where Greenwood lived.
Manchester United have confirmed that Greenwood will not be able to train and play at Manchester United until further notice.
However, Manchester United have not officially suspended Greenwood, which means that United need to continue to fulfill their contract and pay Greenwood a salary of £100,000 per week. The player's contract at Old Trafford ends in 2025.
