Xiwang Village has a long history of pottery making and celebrities, and is a famous purple sand professional village in Yixing.
In the planned economy era, 90% of the nearly 1,000 laborers in the village were imprisoned on more than 1,000 mu of land. Due to the difficulty of exerting the advantages of the pottery industry, Xiwang Village has become an economically weak village in our city. In recent years, with the development of the market economy, a large number of farmers with pottery skills have begun to transfer to non-agricultural industries, and the development of pottery industry has become the highlight of local rural revitalization.
In order to better guide the villagers to become bigger and stronger in the purple sand industry, Xiwang Village relied on a group of outstanding local talents such as Fan Weiqun and Fan Zefeng to establish the country's first purple sand ceramics professional cooperative based on farmers' handicrafts, guiding the villagers to embark on the road of industrialization development. The implementation of a series of farmers' skills training projects and rural technical title evaluations and other relevant policies and measures introduced by our city has also made earth-shaking changes in the ideological concepts and market awareness of villagers in Xiwang Village. Learning culture, drilling technology, breaking into the market, and reporting professional titles have become new fashions.
"No one asked for a job title before, but they made the same money anyway." Wu Yongchun, a senior pot maker, felt that the evaluation title was a superfluous thing before joining the company. However, after he saw that many members of the club had a title with the help of the cooperative, he was also moved. In particular, several old customers told Lao Wu: "Now the pot friends pay attention to the qualifications of the pot maker and the artistic level of the works, and there is a title to have more space." As a result, Wu Yiran, who is more than 60 years old, embarked on the "road of examination" and actively participated in the art theory training courses opened by the cooperative.
Through the careful cultivation of the cooperative, villager Zhou Juying obtained the title of senior arts and crafts artist. She felt heavier responsibility and more pressure. In the past two years, while improving her skills, she has taken the initiative to participate in the "Blue and Blue Pairing Project" organized by the cooperative, leading the surrounding villagers to learn technology and culture, feeding back the construction of the cooperative, and driving the farmers to make pottery and become rich.
"This is a huge national prize, and you can't buy it for much money!" At the home of Fan Yueqin, a female artist in purple sand, she excitedly displayed the award certificate. On the recommendation of the cooperative, she won the second place in the Fourth National Vocational Skills Competition for the Disabled. This not only made her stand up straight in the past, but also significantly increased the price of her works.
"In domestic and foreign pottery competitions, gold and silver were frequently won, and various honors came pouring in, so that the villagers' waists stood up." Fan Zefeng said happily. At present, the village has 3 comprehensive industrial bases and 12 artistic creation teams. More than 400 purple sand artists, formerly known as "rural billets", carried the title certificates that symbolized price and status in the purple sand circle. Last year, a number of "national brand" honors such as the national characteristic industry billion yuan village, the national one village and one product demonstration village, and the national double creation demonstration park (base) were spent in the west.
