Kodak has partnered with Australian manufacturers to launch a white ink digital hot stamping function kit

Sydney-based DTG Printing Technology Developer/Manufacturer PPS Innovations has partnered with Kodak to develop a new white ink digital hot stamping kit, Direct-to-Film (DTF), which allows DTG printers to print a wider range of natural and synthetic fabrics, including sportswear, hats and bags.

"Kodak's DTF suite was specifically designed by PPS Innovations and Kodak to enable users to get the best results from indirect transfer printing," said Steve Richardson, CEO of PPS Innovations.

"DTF kits enable users to decorate a wider range of natural and synthetic fabrics, which could open up new business opportunities. A significant advantage of indirect transfer printing is the ability to decorate synthetic fiber fabrics, including sportswear and outdoor clothing, and the ability to modify difficult surfaces, such as hats and bags with curves and flaps, which are more difficult to do direct printing. In addition, transfer materials can be printed and cured when needed to provide greater versatility in production planning. ”

The system consists of a modular thermal control plate to reduce ink exudation during film printing, printable transfer paper, TPU powder glue applied by a vibrator, and PPS fuses for curing the ink layer and preparing the powder glue for transfer.

Thermally controlled pressure plates stabilize the ink during the printing process, reducing color bleeding on the film, thereby improving image and transfer quality. TPU powder glues are optimized to reduce static electricity on printable films, ensure accurate glue-to-ink adhesion, and provide flexibility for decorative fabric types. The PPS melt curing box is a thermally regulated and timer-controlled device that cures printed films and glues prior to pressing.

The DTF kit is designed to work with most DTG printer brands. DTG users also have the option to use KODAK's DTF-specific ink sets.

PPS Innovations develops and manufactures industrial digital products for the textile and printing industry. The company's headquarters and R&D department are located in Sydney, Australia, with manufacturing and service centers in Singapore, the Netherlands and Malaysia.
