Zhang Kun, male, Han ethnicity, CPC member, Qujing, Yunnan, born in June 1989, enlisted in the army in December 2006, joined the party in June 2009, is now the fourth-class sergeant major of the First Retired Cadres Rest Center of the Sichuan Provincial Military Region, has been rated as "excellent soldier" and "excellent non-commissioned officer" for many times, has performed well in the past 15 years, has firm ideals and convictions, excellent ability and quality, and noble moral conduct. On the afternoon of July 25, 2021, when Zhang Kun and his family went to the Qianjiang River Valley in Xiaoyudong Town, Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province, during their vacation, they suddenly encountered 2 local people (including 1 8-year-old child) falling into the water, and 2 of his companions jumped into the water to rescue unsuccessfully and were trapped at the same time. The downwater area is located in the valley backwater bay, which is a deep-water whirlpool, with a maximum depth of 3 to 4 meters. I heard that people had drowned here, and the surrounding people did not dare to rush into the water. The life of the person who fell into the water was in danger, at the critical moment, Zhang Kun stepped forward, risked his life to jump into the water alone, with the assistance of the people on the shore, used a bamboo pole to first rescue the 2 adults who were close to the shore, and then struggled to swim into the deep water, when the child was about to be swept into the center of the whirlpool, he used all his strength to rescue the child, and in time took the Heimlik first aid method to successfully get out of danger, and then turned into the water to rescue the last person, found that the person was in a critical condition, and quickly performed artificial respiration and CPR first aid. It was not until the arrival of the 120 ambulance that it quietly left. After inquiring and searching from many sources, the rescued people and their families learned of Zhang Kun's unit, and on August 20, they made a special trip to the First Retired Cadres Rest Center in Chengdu to present pennants and letters of thanks to Zhang Kun for saving his life and for the troops for cultivating such excellent soldiers.
Knowing that the good news will be delivered home, Zhang Kun's family and relatives and friends waited at the door of their homes early to greet this honor together.
