BBC: Much lower than Brighton expected, Newcastle's £7 million offer for Dan Byrne was rejected

According to BBC reporter Simon Stone, Newcastle offered 29-year-old England centre-back Dan Byrne for £7 million, but was rejected by Brighton.

Simon Stone noted that Newcastle saw Dan Byrne as one of the winter window's signing targets and made a £7m offer, but the offer was much lower than Brighton's assessment of Dan Byrne and was rejected.

Dan Byrne's contract with Brighton expires in 2023 and has played 16 games so far this season, contributing one goal and playing 1,277 minutes.
