Advances in robotics have enabled companies to replace certain workers with machines, but the limitations of current technology make many tasks still need to be done by humans.
Musk told investors that the first application of a humanoid robot would be "moving parts around the factory, or something like that, at the Tesla factory." But in the future, he thinks it will help solve the labor shortage.
