The two films have many similarities, or rather, bertolucci's personal style and themes. Photography, composition, light, use of color, unpredictable narrative with the function of conveying ideas.
The film's narrative perspective firmly follows a political opportunist who goes with the flow, delves into his personal life, as well as his private memories. This is also the meaning of the title "The Same Stream", or it is more appropriate to use another title. That is – "the one who goes with the flow".
