Boost Spring Festival consumption, digital offline full-scene consumption subsidies launched

As the peak season of traditional offline consumption, the Spring Festival has become an important consumption recovery opportunity for many offline supermarkets during the epidemic. On January 26, Meituan announced that it will open a digital yuan payment channel for the platform's offline consumption full scene, and users can pay and receive exclusive consumption subsidies through digital yuan when purchasing fresh food, taking a taxi or watching movies.

It is understood that the digital RMB payment scenarios launched this time include more than 200 offline consumption scenarios on the Meituan platform, including catering, takeaway, fresh retail, shared bicycles, Meituan taxis, hotel tourism, movie performances, and leisure and entertainment. This is also the first time that the digital yuan has achieved full-scene coverage of the local life service platform.

The digital yuan pilot is covering the line from online and offline, and is gradually showing unique social value. Previously, Meituan has launched a digital RMB carbon neutrality pilot, and with the help of smart contract functions, it has launched a red envelope for the resumption of work and production after the epidemic in Xi'an.

The relevant person in charge of Meituan said that before the arrival of the spring festival offline consumption peak, Meituan opened a full-scenario digital RMB payment channel under the guidance of relevant departments and launched online consumption subsidies, aiming to allow more users to experience digital yuan while also driving the recovery of offline consumption.

According to Meituan, since January this year, nearly 90% of the digital RMB red envelopes in meituan's digital yuan pilot activities have flowed to the daily consumption scenarios of people's lives such as takeaway, grocery shopping, and catering, of which small transaction orders below 30 yuan account for the highest proportion, effectively driving the development of various types of people's livelihood consumption and offline small and micro entity merchants.

Li Lihui, former president of the Bank of China, believes that behind the scenes of catering and takeaway, grocery shopping and shopping, there are vast and sinking small and micro merchants, and the next step should be to deeply promote all aspects of the real economy and people's lives, so that the inclusiveness of the digital yuan can fully empower the development of the real economy.

As a "new infrastructure" in the era of China's digital economy, the digital yuan has the inclusive characteristics of low cost and zero rate, and its ability to reduce the cost of small and micro enterprises and serve the real economy is highly expected. Zou Lan, director of the Financial Market Department of Chinese Min bank, said that it is necessary to put the research and development pilot of the digital yuan on the service of the real economy and the lives of the people, so that more enterprises and individuals can feel the value of the digital yuan and fully stimulate the enthusiasm of all parties in the industry.

Boost Spring Festival consumption, digital offline full-scene consumption subsidies launched

"The opening of the full scene of the US group is basically equivalent to the full coverage of digital yuan in the daily life scene of the people." From the perspective of digital yuan, it is undoubtedly a better combination with high-frequency consumption scenarios, which can serve the real economy and people's lives on a larger scale, drive the improvement of the inclusiveness and availability of digital yuan, promote the development of small and micro enterprises through market-oriented means, and inject long-term and sustainable momentum into their survival. Wang Pengbo, a senior analyst in the financial industry of Broadcom Consulting, said.

It is reported that since the launch of the digital yuan carbon neutrality pilot in September last year, Meituan has continued to increase the application of the digital yuan. As of January this year, nearly 2.5 million digital RMB sub-wallets have been pushed to the Meituan App, and the cumulative number of digital RMB users on the platform has exceeded 2 million. The relevant person in charge of Meituan said that under the guidance of relevant departments, Meituan will continue to design and explore digital yuan pilot activities in more business scenarios along the direction of "green inclusive + consumption scenarios", and at the same time actively support the digital yuan acceptance environment of offline merchants, and continue to explore new paths for digital yuan to boost people's livelihood consumption and promote the development of small and micro merchants.
