Winter Olympic Games Broadcast "Light"

This article is transferred from: Labor Afternoon News

With a large live broadcast team, complex live line layout, and expensive broadcast car configuration, this traditional way of broadcasting events has become a thing of the past. In the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, 1 person, 1 camera, 1 5G cloud broadcast backpack and 1 laptop can complete the broadcast of winter Olympic events such as alpine skiing and snowboard U-shaped pools. Recently, the reporter followed the "Science and Technology Winter Olympics Enterprise Tour" into Beijing International Cloud Broadcasting Technology Co., Ltd., the company developed the "5G + cloud broadcasting" technology, the traditional broadcast program has been lightweight, cloud processing, so that the public can see the "5G + cloud computing" brought by the innovative application. During the Beijing Winter Olympics, the technology will provide the public with an innovative form of event broadcasting services.

Lightweight 5G backpack replaces traditional OB vans

The traditional retransmission system needs to lay out the signal transmission line and live broadcast equipment in advance at the scene, and transmit the live image to the OB truck near the scene through the physical line connection, and the guide team completes the signal production on the OB truck, and then transmits it back to the media center, with heavy assets and high threshold.

According to Zhang Pengzhou, chief technology officer of Beijing International Cloud Broadcasting Technology Co., Ltd., as one of the three key layout industries of the Winter Olympics of Science and Technology, cloud broadcasting will be heavy assets, high threshold traditional broadcasting lightweight cloud, through cloud acquisition and editing technology, to achieve the cloud of broadcast equipment and remote personnel services. Except for the on-site camera equipment, all the guide cutting production is done in the cloud, as long as there is a network, the director can use a notebook to connect to the cloud to complete the signal production.

The live signal can be achieved through a lightweight 5G backpack, using the 5G network to transmit to the cloud broadcast platform, only needs lightweight equipment such as laptops, you can achieve multi-channel signal cloud guide switching.

"Because the 5G backpack is relatively lightweight and flexible, cloud broadcasting can be broadcast everywhere, such as the mountain and river that are difficult for broadcast trucks to drive, which are no longer a broadcast barrier, as long as there is a network, it can be broadcast live." Zhang Pengzhou introduced that 5G backpacks have been widely used in the Winter Olympics test games and other projects.

According to the staff, the weight of this 5G backpack is only 930 grams, the self-supplied power supply can be powered for 4 hours, the external power supply can be used for the backpack for 6 hours, and 10 hours is enough to support a large outdoor live broadcast. "Considering that the outdoor environment of the Winter Olympics is relatively cold, we used the inner tank bag of graphene for the first time, and graphene can continue to heat insulate the 5G backpack, instantly increasing the use temperature by 20-30 degrees Celsius, so in an extremely cold environment, the 5G backpack can also be used normally."

Achieve remote piloting from any location

The director platform is also more lightweight, as long as there is a network, the director can use a laptop in any location to connect to the cloud, complete the signal production, and remotely realize the function of the traditional broadcast truck.

Zhang Pengzhou introduced that in addition to the on-site camera equipment, all the guide cutting production is completed in the cloud. Without the need for a large guide switcher, staff can use laptops to connect to the cloud to complete signal production in coffee shops, at home, or anywhere. Moreover, the front end of the cloud broadcast system not only supports the signal acquisition of professional broadcast-grade cameras, but also supports mobile phones and non-professional camera equipment.

The reporter learned that in the "Meet in Beijing" series of test matches, cloud broadcasting and related derivative services were used many times. In Wukesong Stadium, Capital Gymnasium, National Stadium, National Speed Skating Hall and National Ski Jumping Center, cloud broadcasting and remote unmanned hybrid interviewing and remote news release systems based on cloud broadcasting technology have been applied, and successfully completed the broadcast services of many events and related activities such as ice hockey, short track speed skating, speed skating, figure skating, ski jumping and other events.

Achieve "a thousand people and a thousand faces"

Viewers can view from a multidimensional perspective

Zhang Pengzhou introduced that cloud broadcasting can also produce different versions online to meet the personalized needs of new media and achieve "thousands of faces". For example, in a concert, different audiences like different singers and stars, and the director can provide them with different shots according to the audience's preferences.

"Viewers can also achieve multi-dimensional viewing through cloud broadcasting. In the past, when viewers watched TV, they could usually only see one retransmission signal, but now they can transmit multiple camera signals to the audience at the same time, and the audience can choose different camera positions to watch. Zhang Pengzhou said that the technology will be applied in education, cultural tourism, media and other fields, such as slow live broadcast of scenic spots and live broadcast of cloud classrooms.

In addition, the remote unmanned hybrid interview system based on cloud broadcasting can realize the air dialogue between people in different spaces, ensuring the smooth development of interview exchanges between the media and athletes. The use of 5G+ cloud broadcast technology not only reduces the gathering of on-site technicians, but also further improves the security of event broadcasting.
