Sky Sports reported that Manchester City are about to sign River Plate striker Alvarez for £17 million, and the young goalscorer will be on loan to River Plate and play until this summer.
It is reported that Manchester City plans to let Alvarez stay with River Plate for another six months, and then take him to the team's pre-season training.
The 21-year-old Alvarez, whose current contract expires in December 2022, has previously played five times for Argentina. At the club, he made a total of 96 appearances for River Plate, scoring 36 goals and contributing 25 assists.
