The intangible cultural heritage "Playing Lotus Xiang" integrates dance elements such as "Cha cha", "Rumba" and "Jazz", and the vitality of youth and fashion comes to the face in an instant.
Just today, the "New Era, New Countryside, New Life" 2021 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season Huinan Town Community Residents' Sixth Square Edition Lianxiang Dance Competition was held in Haishen Village, Huinan Town, and 23 village and residence representative teams appeared on the stage one by one, collectively forming a unique "Playing Lotus Xiang" stage.
Playing Lotus Xiang, commonly known as "Playing Lotus", also known as "Lotus Stick Dance", was included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection of Shanghai in 2009.
Hosted by the Huinan Town People's Government and undertaken by the Huinan Town Cultural Service Center, the event aims to further enhance the physical fitness and cultural literacy of the residents of the Huinan Town community, stimulate the enthusiasm of the residents of the Huinan Town community to learn the "Playing Lotus Xiang" dance, and let more community residents understand and join the team of joint inheritance and protection of the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Project".
In recent years, in order to better inherit and carry forward the "Playing Lotus Xiang" culture, Huinan Town has innovated on the basis of the original traditional "Playing Lotus Xiang" dance for many years, combined traditional culture with popular square dances, created and choreographed a series of simple and easy-to-learn square version of Lotus Xiang dances, and promoted and inherited them throughout the town, and has created and promoted six sets of square version Lotus Xiang dances with different styles and two sets of stage versions of Lotus Xiang dances.
The sixth set of square version of Lianxiang dance launched this year is more in line with the trend of rejuvenation of square dance, on the basis of the original "playing Lianxiang" dance, integrated into the "chacha", "rumba" and "jazz" dance elements loved by young people nowadays, dance music creation is also different from previous years, through "rap" and the rhythm of the fast and slow changes to let everyone feel the Shanghai metropolis leisurely, traffic, fully show everyone the unique charm of Shanghai as a Shanghai city.
