Netflix's "Squid Games" TV series has been confirmed by the company to have a second season. On Thursday's fourth-quarter earnings call, Netflix's co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that the South Korean miniseries would return. When asked by Fidelity Management and Research's Nidhi Gupta if viewers would get the second season of Netflix, the most popular TV series of all time, Sarandos replied — "That's absolute." The Squid Games universe has only just begun. ”
Previously, the director of the show, Huang Dong Hyuk, confirmed that the series would return. Sadly, Sarandos didn't elaborate on when the series would return or what the expanded Squid Games universe would look like.
But if the series gets the full Stranger Things treatment, then that has the potential to extend to games and more. Right now, Squid Games already has its own merchandise collection and Funko Pop collectibles in the Netflix Store. In addition, a new Gape collaboration is scheduled for release on Friday.
