First of all, to introduce the personal situation, I graduated from college through campus recruitment into a provincial branch of the four major banks to work, during which I worked in the branch business department, financial institutions, investment banking and financial markets for a total of ten years, and I have a certain understanding of banking work.

Talking about the quality of banking work cannot be generalized. Because the bank access threshold as a whole is at a low level in the financial industry, this is related to the fact that banks have a large number of different levels of jobs, and it is too irresponsible to talk about bank work, salaries and other situations in general without distinguishing between regions and positions. This article will introduce the general situation of different types of banks, job functions, career development paths, etc.

First, the overall situation of the bank

The indirect financing system of strong government countries is developed, and the direct financing system of weak government countries is developed. The mainland is one of the representatives of the development of a typical indirect financing system. Although the stock market has received wider attention, the degree of development of the securities market has yet to be improved compared to the interbank market, especially outside the north.

The mainland commercial banking system mainly divides commercial banks into several categories, such as state-owned banks, joint-stock banks, urban commercial and rural commercial banks, Xinhe, and villages and towns. At present, there are six Chinese banks in China, and the workers and peasants have established diplomatic and postal deposits. Workers and peasants are the most orthodox four state-owned banks, and postal savings have just joined the state-owned banks in recent years. A joint-stock bank is a national commercial bank that operates nationwide but has different equity ownership from that of a state-owned bank. Urban commercial and rural commercial banks only develop regionally in the registered province, and before the introduction of regulatory policies, individual urban commercial and rural commercial banks have opened branches outside the registered place, and it is not good for the supervision of this situation to let people close their doors, so they continue to take advantage. There is a difference between Xinhe and general commercial banks, and villages and towns are too small to be overlooked.

From the perspective of bank classification, state-owned banks are the first echelon of banks regardless of market position, asset scale, professionalism, etc. For students who directly join the head office, within the scope of the bank, it is already the highest starting point, the head office of the six state-owned banks are in Beijing, the school recruitment solves the account, the income is not high, but it can accept the most comprehensive business varieties of domestic banks, the most advanced system (don't care how the four major banks spit their own systems are not easy to use, if you go to other small and medium-sized banks, you will find that it may be worse, after all, tens of thousands of developers in large banks plus outsourced systems, small and medium-sized banks do not have that input), the best training resources. The four head offices are filled with a large number of outstanding talents, people with more glamorous academic qualifications, and people with XX depths, please feel free to imagine. Students who take such an opportunity as the starting point of bank work, please seize all learning opportunities to improve yourself, as for the promotion of this kind of thing depends on the opportunity. Of course, if the family foundation is not enough, it is difficult to buy a house in Beijing by relying on the income of the four major head offices, but with the endorsement of the work of the four major head offices, it is relatively difficult to jump to other institutions. Another point is that state-owned banks, as central enterprises, are often relatively conservative in their style of doing things, the characteristics of state-owned enterprises are obvious, and the pace of promotion and other aspects is not too fast, which depends on personal ambitions to adapt as appropriate.

The head office of the joint-stock bank is slightly different, the overall style is similar, the incentive mechanism and style are basically more radical than the state-owned banks, of which China CITIC Bank and Everbright Bank are closer to the style of the four state-owned banks, other joint-stock bank styles are different, the direction of expertise is also different, and its historical background and the area where the head office is located have a lot of relationship. For example, China Merchants Bank's personal business is better, and SPDB's overtime culture is serious.

The urban and rural commercial banks put together and said. The overall situation of urban commercial banks is better than that of rural commercial banks, but the top rural commercial banks have surpassed most urban commercial banks, and the specific situation still needs to be specifically looked at. Compared with state-owned banks and joint-stock systems, urban and rural commercial banks lag behind in terms of management level, market size, business varieties or supporting systems. However, from the perspective of local market competitiveness, because of the local government background and support, the competitiveness in various places is the strongest, and the market share generally exceeds that of local state-owned banks. Some high-quality urban commercial banks have achieved cross-regional development before the introduction of regulatory policies, which is also very good in market influence, and several large city commercial banks have also been included in the systemic important banks recently issued by supervision. The particularity of the rural commercial bank system is difficult to say.

2. Bank functions

Banks have many different departments in front, middle and back office, both at the head office and in their branches. We cannot arbitrarily comment on the advantages and disadvantages of the post, and the specific situation must be combined with its own characteristics. The better departments in the front desk department are probably the financial market department, investment banking department, asset management department, corporate finance department, personal finance department, transaction banking department, bank card department, etc.; the middle office such as the approval department, risk management department, operation and settlement department, etc.; the background such as human resources department, office, etc., ranking in no particular order.

The quality of the position should be combined with their own personality and strengths, such as low emotional intelligence, introverted personality, have to go to the corporate finance department or investment banking department, so that you need to communicate in the project, survive in a deceitful environment, do not do a good job is the second, being thrown out of the pot, throwing the project, making mistakes, etc. Once it occurs, it will hit confidence and affect personal future development.

Regardless of the personal situation, the financial market department of the head office is superior to the general business department of the bank, the technical content is higher, and it is considered to be the department with higher technical content in the bank, especially the independent assessment of the financial market department by individual banks, and the different incentive mechanisms directly affect the income much higher than that of other business departments in general.

The investment banking department and the asset management department are similar to the financial market department, and the personnel of the asset management department of some large banks have now been transferred to wealth management subsidiaries, which is also superior to the general department in terms of business attributes.

The Corporate Finance Department and the Personal Finance Department bear the two largest lines of commercial banks and contribute the largest profits, and the importance is self-evident.

The internal authority of the approval department is relatively large, up to the company department, down to the branch are counting on their credit to be approved as soon as possible, the internal status is higher, but individual cases will also be subject to splint gas.

Other front-end departments look at the development of each bank's own business to varying degrees, for example, some banks have better bank card department development, some bank electronic banking department is better, some bank transaction bank department is better, the specific situation is based on the specific analysis of the bank.

The work attributes of the head office and the branch department are different, and the branch mainly plays the role of uploading and distributing intermediary management. Branch business authority is limited, the vision pattern is not as good as the head office, but it is easier to win the job responsibilities simpler.

3. Career development path

The career path is a bit of a nihilistic thing, everyone has different opportunities, and the development situation is very different. I will only briefly introduce you from the general direction.

Carry out the work in the head office department, then please be honest in the early stage, quietly learn to do things, learn to be a person, slowly wait for opportunities, boil seniority promotion, promotion to the level of team leader, the route will have branches, some people continue to promote within the department, some people delegate branches to promote, of course, there are also people who have a lifetime of employees, depending on personal opportunities. Basically to the level of the department level, it may already be the peak of the career of most people, the retirement of the deputy department can basically be satisfied, the personal strength is strong, the temper of the leader, thousands of troops and horses to kill out and become the right place is even better. Going up is basically not just an individual hard work. Background, luck, and strength are all indispensable.

After working in the branch department, there are about 3 routes to choose from in a few years. 1. Continue to promote branches all the way up. 2. Participate in the competition of the head office or directly transfer into the head office department. 3. Delegate grassroots posts. Whichever way you go, there are pros and cons.

The progress is at the grassroots outlets, which may be a situation that many students have to face, and I want to talk to you a little more today. Ten years ago and today the degree of internal volume is different, ten years ago the academic competition is far less so big than now, now in addition to the top universities, whether it is undergraduate or master's degree, it is possible to be assigned to the grass-roots network to work. Starting from the lowest starting point, please be mentally prepared, this may be a long-term competition process, and their own unwilling competition, and heavy indicators, and anti-human various internal systems to compete, in fact, the biggest is still with their own expectations of the gap. In fact, correct the mentality, improve yourself as soon as possible, show yourself, not necessarily work in the network is a bad thing, grassroots work experience is also an important condition for future promotion. Leaders who have really worked at the grassroots level and then been promoted to leadership positions are often stronger.

Students working at the grassroots level, if there is really no better place and platform, in order to survive, please converge all your tempers and edges, don't complain, learn more, see more, do more, and the predecessors who counterattack from the outlets abound.

Although the work of the teller stage is not strong, and the online complaints are the most, most of the seniors who really chat with the seniors who leave the teller post will think that it is the happiest time in the bank's work. Although the camera can not use the mobile phone, busy to no time to drink water, but the work is still relatively simple, the account is flat, cover the warehouse box can go home to drink and drink, the brush drama brush drama has no trouble.

After surviving the teller stage, you enter an account manager position full of variables, growth and challenges. Different banks may also subdivide account managers, wealth managers, corporate relationship managers, personal credit relationship managers, etc. Among them, the line in which the account manager works will greatly affect the future development route, of course, there are many cross-line developments, not absolute.

The corporate account manager is responsible for large company credit, small and medium-sized enterprise credit, corporate deposit marketing, public product marketing and so on. Be able to contact the personnel of party and government organs, the financial personnel of large enterprises, and also have the opportunity to sit down and drink tea with the leaders and the financial directors of listed companies. Because the work content has a greater impact on the industry, the loan is often several hundred million, so the sense of existence is better, and the salary is not bad. But because credit is a job of writing materials, a large number of due diligence reports are waiting for you, marketing customers during the day, visiting customers continuously, and working overtime at night to write due diligence is the norm. Pleasing customers, pleasing leaders, pleasing approvals, the relationship between all parties is waiting for you to maintain, which link has a problem, you have to suffer. The project handled is with you for a lifetime, the future regulatory inspection finds some flaws, the customer is involved in the case, etc. Back to track down may implicate you, the risk is really big, and the students try to be cautious.

The credit line is always the most core line of the bank, and it is also the line with the most promotions and the highest line. Future development direction: 1, in situ promotion to the branch president, branch company department director, etc.; 2, competition, selection to the general and branch company related departments to work. The odds of the entire public line staff becoming branch leaders in the future are relatively higher than other positions.

Personal relationship managers, including wealth managers and personal credit managers, some lines are not so fine. The sense of existence is not as big as that of the public account manager, and you can contact high-end individual customers and accumulate your own customer resources. Personal customers most of the time than the public customers are better to serve, many are still very good to get along with, it is normal to be friends, if you do personal credit, then you can definitely experience what is called Party A, I think the only position in the outlets can not be laughed at. Personal deposit pressure will be on your shoulders to resist, no skin and no face to deposit is a common thing, to help a variety of strange customers to solve problems is a common thing, simple financial managers generally overtime is not too much, if you want to do personal loans, overtime will not be less when you live more.

Future development direction: 1, in situ promotion to the branch president, branch of the personal finance department director, etc.; 2, competition, selection to the general and branch personal finance related departments to work.

For students who start from the network, don't feel that the future is hopeless, seize the opportunity to change, and if you have been complaining, you must either leave the industry or stay in place.

Overall, graduation options are prioritized:

Six state-owned banks> joint-stock banks> urban commercial banks> rural commercial banks (except rural commercial banks and provincial federations directly under the central government)

The head office > branch > branch

The financial market > other first-tier sectors> second-tier sectors = third-tier sectors

The third-line department is a completely different situation, although it has lost the pleasure of doing finance, but the office, manpower, etc. are in close contact with the leaders of the bank.

Priorities intersect, depending on the situation. For example, I think the head office of a good city commercial bank is better than the branch of a state-owned bank. For example, postal savings bank head office and China Merchants Bank head office, I choose China Merchants Bank head office.

In terms of salary, under normal circumstances, state-owned banks have the lowest salary, and urban and rural commercial enterprises and joint-stock systems depend on the specific situation.

Moreover, my admiration for the Gold City Department is limited to the professionalism of the work, if you promote from within the industry, in fact, the Gold City Department is quite narrow, because of the strong professionalism, it is not convenient to send institutions to serve, either the department is promoted, or jump to other institutions. On the contrary, the company and the approval department are connected up and down, and there are more opportunities for promotion.
