The Great Fission: The Sky of the North and South Dynasties
This is a history of the Southern and Northern Dynasties spanning nearly two hundred years, vividly telling the history of the Chaotic Great Fission Era of the Southern and Northern Dynasties. The Southern Dynasty included the Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen Dynasties; the Northern Dynasty was unified by the Northern Wei in the early period, and the Northern Wei was divided into Eastern Wei and Western Wei after the Northern Wei, which were replaced by Northern Qi and Northern Zhou respectively. The balance of power between the North and the South has remained for a long time. After the establishment of the Sui Dynasty, the Northern Zhou regime continued for nine years.
The book is divided into three volumes: "Confrontation between The North and the South", "Wei Split East and West", and "The World Returns to Sui", the history of the past two hundred years interprets the rise and fall of the dynasty, tells the personal fate of historical figures and the conflict between the north and the south, the conflict between farming and nomadic civilization, and finally ends with Yang Jian unifying the north and south and history returning to the great unification.
Whether it was the Southern Dynasty or the Northern Dynasty, in the same period, several countries coexisted, and politics, economy, and culture all had me in you, and I had you.
This history shows a big scene of a hundred flowers blooming and ten thousand horses galloping, and finally a hundred rivers converge on the sea, and the world is one.
The chaotic world of division, confrontation and turmoil is shocking, and the disregard for life revealed by the chaotic world is even more heart-wrenching. But we should also see that even in that chaotic era, society was still developing, civilization was still progressing, and this period made special contributions to the later highly developed Tang and Song civilizations.
"History Turns Here"
2018 is the year of Penghu, the 120th anniversary of the Penghu Reform Law, and 2019 is the centenary of the May Fourth Movement, which are the two most important enlightenment movements in modern China. This book is a complete review of the modern Enlightenment. This book invites modern historian Deng Wenchu to compile and select nearly 40 famous expositions on the Enlightenment by famous scholars such as Mao Haijian and Yang Tianshi, telling the entire complete process of China's modern enlightenment from the source, breaking through Kang Liang's monopoly discourse power on the Penghu Movement since modern times. So that readers can clearly and accurately understand the whole picture of Penghu and May Fourth from a book. Although this book is a collection of articles, it has its own unique arrangement style, that is, there is a restoration of historical events, there is an interpretation of ideas, and there are more commentaries on characters, and the selected articles can be read very strongly, suitable for general readers to know the whole picture of history with a book.
The main contents and examples of this book include three aspects: first, historical examination, mainly some historical doubts that occurred in Wushu, which are of great interest to readers, The Incident of Yuan Shikai's Whistle-Blowing Incident, and the Truth of the "Book on the Bus". Interpretation of the Second Thought, an explanation of the new and old, traditional and modern issues in the Penghu Reform Law. The three-character commentary is mainly some important figures who are not known to ordinary readers and affect the process of Penghu. Through these articles, we can clearly understand that the Penghu Movement is an inevitable event in which all parties participate and the whole society joins forces. Without the Penghu Movement, there would have been no May Fourth Enlightenment.
History, Sound, Learning: The Lineage and Changes of Modern Chinese Culture
History, Voice, and Learning: The Lineage and Changes of Modern Chinese Culture is a collection of fragments from the history of Chinese thought and scholarship in the first half of the 20th century, exploring the structural changes in modern Chinese culture and the role of traditional fragments after disintegration in the process of spawning, transforming, and breaking through. It can be seen in it: how the Confucian logic of moral introspection transformed the theory of social evolution into a powerful mechanism of action, how the change of historical outlook reshaped Chinese the way of telling oneself in the past, how the rise of sound culture triggered the "voice turn" in the knowledge revolution, how the consciousness of the Tao participated in the shaping of modern academic concepts and institutions, how scientific concepts refreshed the image of traditional religions, and how old and new literature directly or indirectly supported the scientific research practice of new historiography. This review shows that activating the self-renewal ability of Chinese culture depends on both the affirmation of the richness and openness of our own traditions and the strengthening and improvement of these qualities.
