Li Jun: From peacekeepers to case-solvers

Although it has been 10 years since the peacekeeping mission to East Timor, that special experience has been remembered by Li Jun, commander of the second squadron of the action brigade of the public security detachment of the Xiamen City Public Security Bureau in Fujian Province. After returning to China, he has always been down-to-earth, studied hard, continuously improved the ability to investigate and solve cases, participated in cracking cross-border online gambling cases, and then specialized in cracking down on online gambling crimes, leading the team to achieve excellent results.

Use the footboard to get out of peace

In 2004, the second year of Li Jun's police service, he was assigned to the Jiangtou Police Station of the Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau as a police officer in Wushipu Community. At that time, there was a large number of foreigners in the Wushipu area, and the management of rental housing was chaotic, and many dens of making and selling fake certificates were hidden in this rental house.

"At that time, there were no smartphones and population management systems, etc., and the management was all 'walking on the footboard' and 'writing on the pen'." Li Jun said that he had no experience as a community policeman, but he always had an idea in his heart, that is, "to manage the community well, we must start from doing a good job in population management."

Li Jun's first job in Wushipu was to find out the bottom of the population. During the day, when residents are not at home at work, he will come to the door at the wrong time and use the time when residents come home from work to eat. He registered one household at a time, from age to occupation, so that "personnel must meet, information must be registered." A thick personnel register became Li Jun's first harvest after he became a community policeman. Through a carpet-style inventory, he and his colleagues smashed a number of dens that made and sold fake certificates, arrested a group of lawbreakers who participated in the lottery gambling, and also "scared" some people with crooked thoughts.

Once, when Li Jun visited a household, the man found that it was a policeman when he opened the door, and his expression was obviously a little nervous. On the pretext of getting his id, he first closed the door, then opened the door and handed out his ID card, but his body kept blocking the door. After Li Jun checked the ID card and returned it to the man, at the moment when the man closed the door, Li Jun, who already had a good idea, suddenly pushed open the door, only to see that there was a fake certificate making machine on the table in the house, and a stack of fake certificates and blank seals and other items were piled on the ground. It turned out that this was a den of making and selling fake certificates. After investigation, the criminal suspect used his fellow villagers as a network of relations to form a "one-stop manufacturing and trafficking" system. A den of counterfeit certificates was successfully destroyed.

Unforgettable those years

In 2009, Li Jun signed up for the Peacekeeping Police Force, and in the exam, Li Jun's excellent English skills allowed him to easily pass the primary election. Although Li Jun studied law during college, his English scores were very good. The next is the English re-examination, driving, shooting and other assessment content, after a round of screening, Li Jun finally succeeded in being selected with excellent strength.

During the peacekeeping mission in Timor-Leste, Li Jun relied on his strong ability to investigate and solve cases, and was responsible for guiding the local police to carry out community patrols and solve cases. In East Timor, many Fujian businessmen were doing business in the local area, and once a Fujian businessman's mobile phone shop was smashed by a local drunken man, who was injured in the process of defense. After receiving the alarm, Li Jun immediately rushed to the scene, viewed the surveillance video, understood the causes and consequences, judged the responsibility of both sides from a fair and just perspective, and coordinated the peaceful settlement of the incident between the two sides, which won praise.

Grow into a top cracker

After returning to China after completing the peacekeeping mission, Li Jun returned to the police station to continue to engage in investigation and cracking of cases. In 2018, he participated in the investigation of a cross-border online gambling case, and played an important role in solving the case with his excellent business ability and foreign language advantages.

In 2019, Li Jun transferred to the second squadron of the action brigade of the public security detachment of the Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau as a squadron leader, responsible for the special crackdown on online gambling. Due to the continuous renovation of online gambling criminal methods, Li Jun has always maintained the momentum of daily learning, constantly expanded the ideas for solving cases, innovated work methods, and become a backbone of the Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau in cracking down on online gambling crimes. Last year, Li Jun led the team to achieve excellent results, cracking a total of 216 online gambling cases and arresting more than 500 criminal suspects.
