Last year, the groundwater level in the city's plain area rose by 5.64 meters, increasing reserves by 2.89 billion cubic meters, accumulating 9.36 meters and increasing reserves by 4.79 billion cubic meters for six consecutive years. The guarantee capacity of underground water sources such as Zhangfang, Huairou and Pinggu has been effectively restored.

At the same time, the ecological function of water has been greatly improved. In the past 26 years, the five main rivers, such as the Yongding River and the Chaobai River, have all reproduced the "flowing river" and penetrated into the sea, adding 27 new water channels, 452 kilometers long and 32 square kilometers of water, and 81 springs that have dried up for many years. The proportion of healthy water bodies in the city has reached 85.8%, and urban and rural rivers and lakes have reproduced the vitality of clear water and green banks and beautiful river scenery.

Pan Anjun said that in 2022, the city will improve the multi-water source guarantee system and realize the closed loop of the underground water transmission ring in the central urban area. In the ecological governance of the river basin, Pan Anjun said that the Yongding River is the top priority, in 2022, the comprehensive treatment and ecological restoration of the Yongding River will be accelerated, the treatment of the Yongding River Gorge section will be completed, in addition, the first phase of the treatment of the southern section of the plain will also be accelerated, and the preliminary work of the second phase of the southern section of the plain and the purification of Changxing water sources will be completed. In addition, the horizontal ecological compensation mechanism for water source protection in the Yongding River Basin will also be accelerated. For the Miyun Reservoir, we will promote the signing of a new round of compensation agreement for horizontal ecological protection of the Chaobai River Basin in the upper reaches of the Beijing-Hebei Miyun Reservoir, and continue to promote the coordinated governance of upstream and downstream. The upper reaches of the Miyun Reservoir in the city have all been built into ecological clean small watersheds.
