The judge held that the case was serious and had a bad social impact, and decided to choose a date to pronounce the verdict after further evaluation by the collegial panel.
In January 2015, the Liupanshui Intermediate People's Court announced the outcome of the trial. The trial ultimately rejected Xiang Ping's above request and upheld the first-instance judgment.
