Jiufeng Village is located in the northeast of Wutang Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City, Fujian Province, the ancient genus of Yanshouli, in 2015, Jiufeng Village was included in the "Fujian Province Beautiful Countryside Construction Directory". If you want to admire the ancient houses of red brick houses and the exquisite art of Putian carving, then this is the village you must come to Putian.
Before I talked about the Fangjia Dacuo in Jiufeng Village (click to view the details), today, I came to Jiufeng Village and found these two ancient houses with distinct characteristics to share with you.
Zhuang Xi House is located at No. 130 Caopo, Jiufeng Village, built around 1940, and covers an area of 898 square meters. The main building is a single-storey wide seven rooms, and in 1943 two rows of double-storey boxes with five wide rooms were added, which is not less than the Fang Fengbao Mansion.
The whole mansion sits north to south, excellent feng shui, 28.4 meters wide, 34.3 meters deep, is a single-entry courtyard-style building, gable shelves, stone and wood structure, hanging on the top of the mountain.
On the central axis of the Zhuang Xi Mansion are the main gate, the brick cheng, the lower hall, and there are box rooms on both sides. The main door is written "Lacquer Garden Shide", and the lower hall has a single floor and seven rooms wide.
There is a large brick cheng in front of the Zhuang Xi mansion, and the two floors of the box rooms on both sides of the brick cheng are five wide, the hall is a sliding door, and the second floor corridor is equipped with a railing beauty leaning.
It is said that the beauty on the second floor hides the three words "Fulu Shou" on the woodcut, have you found it?
Bidding farewell to Zhuang Xi House, I went down the village road to the Zhuang Hui Ting House in the same village, it is said that the owner of the house Zhuang Hui Ting is very able to bear hardships, at the age of 18, he went to northern Fujian to do shoulder picking business, known as "picking flowers", two years later, only 20 years old, he sold putian longan dry to Shanghai through the Hanjiang Youth Street Kai Rui Shun Department Store wholesale store, and then transported the Shanghai poured department store products to Hanjiang and other places, rich from thrift, slowly accumulated wealth, and built this ancestral house with seven compartments under the left and right compartments in 1935.
Zhuang Tinghui House was listed as the seventh batch of cultural relics protection units in Putian City in 2018, it is a civil structure as a whole, sitting north and facing south, with a width of 31 meters, a depth of 25.5 meters, and a building area of 790.5 square meters.
The main building is seven rooms wide, double-storey (single-storey main hall), two rooms and two floors with beautiful people leaning on, hanging on the top of the mountain, Mingjian gable shelf, brick and wood structure, wood components exquisitely carved.
The two sides of the large brick cheng are box rooms, three wide rooms, double-storey, resting on the top of the mountain, with beautiful people leaning on, and the first floor of the colonnade is cement polished hexagonal.
The entire wood carving is from the hand of Huang Dangui, a famous carving master in Putian, and the paint couplets with white heads and red backgrounds and black characters on each door of the Dacuo are from the handwriting of Lin Wenfang (also known as "Fang Nineteen") of "Shijiufang".
When I was about to leave the village, I caught a glimpse of a red brick building at the entrance of the village, which was very conspicuous, and after learning from the villagers, I learned that this double-storey modern building combining Chinese and Western was actually completed in 1941, and this building was formerly a private Fengshan Primary School created by Fang Jinxiu, a gentleman of Jiufeng Village, and raised by merchants.
This is the first private primary school in Wutang Jiangkou, enjoying the praise of "Putian has Linfeng, Wutang has nine peaks" in the educational circles at that time, in 970 it was changed to a public office, renamed "Jiufeng Primary School", and in 1994, a new school was built on the right side, which was changed to the village department.
