Gulu Village is located on the cliffs of Yongli Township, Hanyuan County, Sichuan Province, and under the village is the rushing Dadu River, known as the "village on the cliff".

Gulu Village is a Yi village of more than 500 people. It has been "towering" on the cliff of the Dadu River Grand Canyon for more than 400 years, and the village has not been able to access the road to the outside world, retaining the "ancient" and "dangerous", leaving the nostalgia for the ancient road village.

Gulu Village was supposed to be called "Gollum Village" because the wind in the canyon blew stones into the Dadu River and made a grunting sound. The story of the ancient road village and the road began.

The ancient village originally had no road, until then, it could only rely on the hands, around the almost vertical steep rocks and wisteria steps, and came and went with the outside world, which was a village that required "swinging" for 8 hours.

In 2003, the only way for villagers to communicate with the outside world was changed, and it was a "Z-shaped" mule and horse road about 3 kilometers from the stone wall and a vertical height of nearly 1,000 meters.

The mountain road without guardrails was painstakingly put into the hearts and minds of the people, and it was carved out of the cliff alive, and you can imagine the hardships of building the road at that time.

It took five years to harden the mule road in stages. In 2015, the local government invested again to install a guardrail on the cliff side of Mule Road.

Building a road for Gulu Village is the dream of generations of villagers. But the people of Gulu Village did not make such a choice. This "U" shaped ropeway was exchanged for the abandonment of the road in Gulu Village.

It starts from Erdaoping, Maping Village, Yongli Township, and ends at The Dove's Mouth in Gulu Village, preserving the original ecology to the greatest extent and not destroying the characteristics of "hanging" and "beauty".

The funicular takes 3 minutes to fly over the canyon. From climbing the rattan ladder "hands and feet" for most of the day, to walking the mule and horse road "sweating" for 5 hours, Gulu Village is constantly developing and progressing!

In these three minutes, you can cross the Dadu River Grand Canyon, and the scenery on both sides of the Dadu River above the canyon is very magnificent.

In 2005, China National Geographic named the Dadu River Grand Canyon one of the top ten most beautiful canyons in China, which brought opportunities for the development of tourism in Gulu Village.
