TA: Tuchel wants to reassess Broia, but the Blues personnel issues may push him out of the squad

The Athletic UK Chelsea correspondent Simon Johnson has written a new column titled Play a bit for Chelsea or thrive elsewhere: Armando Broja's future is complicated

This is an op-ed about Chelsea's loan player Broyard, in which SJ points directly to Chelsea's current predicament in sharp language, and it is likely that they will not be able to keep the youth players.

Why would Chelsea consider a bid? Southampton can offer Broa something chelsea can't offer – a regular first-team starting position. As part of the negotiations, they could offer a buyback clause, as they did last summer when they brought in Rivramento.

The terms of Liflamento's contract are a sign of roughly what range the amount of buybacks in Broia's deal might be. Buying back Rivlamento would cost Chelsea £50 million (but considering the secondary transfer share that Chelsea has, the actual amount needed to be spent is £38 million). Some argue that Rivramento's performance is worth the money, but understandably others will question the commercial significance of spending so much money on a player who was once a member of the team but sold for such a low price.

Of course, Chelsea may also choose to rent Broia again because of the "public anger" of the fans. Because the reality that fans keep seeing is that Chelsea keep selling academy players to raise money and bring in expensive foreign internationals who are still struggling.

In addition to Rivramento, Tammy Abraham, Tomori and Gersh all left last summer window, while Ugb, Lewis Bette, Symeu and Miles Pite Harris helped Chelsea raise another £9.7 million, all of which was mainly used by the club to bring in Lukaku with a record £97.5 million. Because of their abilities, coupled with relatively low fees and salaries, these types of players are more likely to make money for Chelsea, while those veterans cost more and pay more.

To give a few examples: 15 million introduced Barkley's weekly salary of £120,000, £35 million introduced by Pullwater's weekly salary of more than £100,000, they have been on the shelves for a long time, but you see anyone want to either?

To be fair, Chelsea don't want to sell all the young players listed above. Some people, like Livra, turned down Chelsea's contract extension because they didn't see a chance to get into the first team, and one of the people who stood in his way was another academy talent – Reese James.

Broya's mentality is different, however, and he still signed a five-year contract last year because he still has the ambition to play at Chelsea. But when he got a taste of the Premier League starter and goal in Southampton, his mentality was understandably teared apart. Many Chelsea fans have asked Broia to return to the team, but how much playing time can he get when he returns to Chelsea on the bench compared to at Southampton?

Chelsea have spent more than £205 million on Lukaku, Havertz and Werner, whose annual salaries add up to more than £45 million, but Tuchel is still under enormous pressure to use these high-priced entries rather than prioritise Broia.

Even if Chelsea moved to "make room" for Broia and wanted to sell one of the three, it was easier said than done. Chelsea want to be able to recoup the transfer fees spent on them, and that's a huge problem when you consider that Lukaku cost £97.5 million, Havertz cost up to £90m (depending on the additional terms) and Werner cost £45m.

The three players also need to be persuaded that they earn around £270,000-340,000 a week at Chelsea and that there are only a handful of teams in the world that can eat their contracts.

Tuchel loves Broia's performance, but he hopes to revisit Broya during the summer training period before the start of next season to reassess his form and performance. But if Broya is gone, what kind of message will it send to Chelsea's other exciting young players? Garagher, Colville and Gilmore, or Harvey Waal, Louis Hall and Jude Sonsup Bell, who made their first appearances in the first team this season.

Chelsea fans need to be realistic, there's really no way to have the best of both worlds. Many people are clamoring for Chelsea to spend a lot of money again, with Comte, Joan Ameni and Rice all potential candidates for Chelsea, but given the FFP and Chelsea's losses, you can't take money out of Abu's pocket forever.

Broya's performances this season have been emotionally charged, but it wouldn't be surprising if he signed another contract with Southampton – this time it could be a farewell with a transfer fee.
