According to Malaysia's Shihua Daily, Malaysia's Sarawak Ministry of Welfare will issue Spring Festival assistance to 6,106 poor Chinese people registered with the Ministry of Welfare in The Whole Sand for the Lunar New Year in 2022.

Sarawak's Minister for Women, Children and Community Welfare development, Sri Fatima Chan Sai Ming, was invited to attend the almsgiving event and said in his speech that the Ministry of Welfare, through cooperation with NGOs, can benefit more vulnerable groups and even obtain more material and aid.

She said that the Ministry of Welfare alone would provide festive assistance worth RM50 and red envelopes of RM100, although through cooperation with NGOs, the recipients' access to supplies would increase to RM100 or more. In order to maintain order at the almsgiving site, it was not possible for all beneficiaries to be present, only 100 people could be selected to attend, while other beneficiaries received RM100 in remittances for the festive season.

Fatima Chan Sai Ming added that the Ministry of Welfare distributes festive assistance to vulnerable groups of all ethnic groups at every festival every year, which is also a unique almsgiving activity in Sarawak.
