Editor's note: The historical and cultural city of Kunming has a secluded heritage, with the baptism of the times, the old neighborhoods that once traded merchants and merchants did not fade away from the glory of the past, but glowed in the form of youth. Today, in the old neighborhood of Kunming, new stories are being staged in the courtyards of ancient houses, and new fashions are gathered under the walls of ancient trees and bricks. From now on, Pocket Spring City will launch a series of reports on "Old Street New Talk", talking to the old residents and new tourists in the block, while pursuing the historical and cultural context, trying to clarify the new way for the old neighborhood to adapt to local conditions and judge the situation.
Pocket Spring City News On the Little Red Book, the Panjiawan Used Goods Market is more related to "retro, old objects, fireworks, and films". With the blessing of a specific retro filter, the photography presents a gesture of returning to the original and the feelings of the old times. Synonymous with The Antique Market in Kunming, it has experienced a time of bustling personnel and luxuriant antiques. We chatted with three owners who have been in the store for 10 years, trying to put aside the personalized color given by the young group and the high barriers to entry of the antique market, and get a glimpse of the tip of the iceberg of its ebb and flow.
Antiques in Shandong
Ma Jianli came to Yunnan 20 years ago with her family from Jining, Shandong. Over 70 years old, her body is still very tough, and she smiles and reveals a mouthful of gold-encrusted teeth. The whole family came here, and a pair of sons and daughters also had their own careers and families in Kunming, so Kunming has long become Ma Jianli's second hometown. Although she still speaks a strong Shandong dialect, she does not understand Mandarin very well. But when talking to her, she always responded kindly.
In Panjiawan, she and her husband are each in charge of a shop. Ma Jianli's shop has several old books on the white woven fabric at the entrance of the store, and the store fills the entire narrow space of about 15 square meters from violins to antique suitcases.
In the 1990s, the restrictions on antique collections in China were gradually relaxed, and a large number of auction companies and antique markets formed a thriving situation, and The famous Panjiayuan in Beijing was a product of that time. According to her own words, she accounted for the dividends of qilu land. In ancient times, Shandong was a place where the Dongyi tribe lived, and later experienced the Dawenkou and Longshan cultures, so the number of cultural relics unearthed from the official to the folk can be seen.

Ma Jianli saw the advantage and timing. She still remembers that when she first arrived at Panjiawan, she happened to have a classical play custom flourishing in China. "At that time, there were more people who came here to buy things, and there were people all over the country, all of whom specialized in research and liked to engage in collection, and at that time, they all said that there was Panjiayuan in the north and Panjiawan in the south." Ma Jianli described that the provincials who do antique trading here are gathered, and the shops are also densely opened. Antiques have been playing for a long time, and everyone will form their own circle of friends. "People who like to play are very particular, mainly look at interest."
"But not quite now. The impact of the epidemic is only one aspect, the most important reason is that the antique market itself has been sluggish in recent years. The few next to me are basically open on Sundays, and there are usually no customers. I'm here all day, I open the door every day, and I don't necessarily have any guests. Ma Jianli sat on a recliner at the door basking in the sun, during which a customer flipped through the books at the door of her store, she went forward to tell the other party the year and price of the book, the other party swept his eyes and put it back.
Folk lovers of kiln porcelain
"The five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty, Ru, Guan, Ge, Ding, and Jun kilns, we look at the tire quality, glaze color, decoration, shape and inscription. The most expensive is the Ru kiln. Ma Guangrong snapped his fingers to explain these layman's seemingly advanced words one by one. The insider looks at the doorway, and is very appropriate in the study of porcelain kilns.
Ma Guangrong said that he was also a halfway monk. Born in the 1950s, he studied automobiles in secondary school, and after graduation, he became a full-time driver to run up and down the country, and in the 1960s, he was sent to Henan to do external transfers. "When I went to more places, I collected a lot of small antiques, and gradually got on the road, in fact, it was also the experience of spending money to buy, and I began to specialize in the antique business in the later stage."
"Originally, I opened a shop in Daguan Commercial City, and the business was quite good." Later, more than 20 of our merchants moved here together. Originally this area was called the Traffic Hostel, and there was a large parking lot. When it first opened, there were many antique lovers, good business, and the Yunnan Collectors Association was just established around 2006, so it had to have an income of more than 200,000 a year. We have also set up our own identification circle, and this habit has been preserved to this day. Yesterday I just had an appraisal meeting here, and people with collectibles can bring things to us to communicate with each other and identify the age and value. ”
In Ma Guangrong's description, this is the place where he retires. More than half a hundred years old, business and large revenue are almost outside the body. "In the past two years, the business has not been easy to do, and many stores have closed their stores and left." It is now a big deal to reach the original level of 200,000 gross profits. I now have a business here to do business, no business to look at the information, there are antique circle friends come over to identify the playthings to start. ”
A record player
He Lin was busy repairing an old-fashioned CD player in the store, spinning back and forth at the button with pliers.
He Lin opened a shop here after it was built from Panjiawan, and the store is neatly arranged with old books, CDs, record players and other objects, and the sun sweeps by, and you can see the dust particles floating in the air, revealing a wisp of the flavor of the old era. He Lin himself is a lover of old things, and he is quite interested in the record player and music belt before starting this business, and it has been almost 20 years since he did it.
"In fact, since the opening of the business can not be said to be absolutely good or bad, antiques and old things themselves have a strong niche and pertinence, it is difficult to have a large amount of sales." We don't expect this to be able to earn revenue every day, we don't talk about quantity, we don't talk about the number of pieces. However, He Lin also sighed, "The overall business is difficult to do, some stores are in the strong support, do not open only a shop and there is no place to put things, rent a warehouse also needs a large part of the expenditure." "His shop is mostly small items, and the price is not very high, so most young people who like retro can afford it." Books and tapes, old records, these objects themselves do not have a high barrier to entry, and antique porcelain is not an order of magnitude. He Lin opened three numbers on Idle Fish to sell his collection, and in the interview, he held two mobile phones to switch back and forth, busy replying to customer messages and taking photos and uploading platforms.
During this period, a lover of antiques bargained with the boss. "Less than 20 is not sold, so that you 3 yuan, 5 yuan is also troublesome, I also have things." He Lin replied with a lazy but kind tone. Customers holding various music tapes in their hands sighed, and the boss's shop was like a relief grocery store, which was very happy. "Shallow threshold has the advantage of shallow threshold."
During this time, He Lin has been focusing on repairing a radio in front of him. "I'm just practicing my hands." Toward the end of the conversation, the playback of the tape finally returned to normal. From the machine came a vague and hazy singing voice, a singer who was popular in the 1970s in mainland Hong Kong and Macao, with a clear and long voice. Under the direct light of the light, the yellowed books are covered with a layer of pale gold, as if to match the distant song, looking back at the old days.
