January 19 news, according to foreign media reports, the whistleblower recently revealed on social media that Apple will launch a 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro equipped with a self-developed M2 chip in the second half of this year, replacing the 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro.

Replace the 13-inch version? Apple will launch the M2 version of the MacBook Pro 14 in the second half of the year

The 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro was launched by Apple in November 2020, equipped with Apple's first self-developed Mac chip M1 based on the Arm architecture, which was also launched with the MacBook Air and Mac mini equipped with the M1 chip.

If the news revealed by the whistleblower is true, it means that Apple will still update the self-developed M series chips this year, and this year will launch the M2.

The whistleblower also said on social media that the 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro equipped with M2 chips that will be launched in the second half of the year will increase in price and will be higher than the previous generation.

Considering that Apple has launched its self-developed M series chips, there are more than one new product launched at the time of release, and if the M2 is launched in the second half of the year, it is not expected that there will be only a 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro. The whistleblower also said on social media that Apple will also launch a MacBook Air equipped with M2.

At present, the MacBook Air sold on Apple's official website is also equipped with an M1 chip, which was launched at the same press conference as the 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro.

However, whistleblowers on social media did not disclose whether the 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro now sold will continue to be sold after Apple launched the MacBook Pro 14 equipped with M2 chips in the second half of the year. Apple's current 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro was launched in October last year, equipped with its self-developed M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.
