The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Trump's indictment to block the transfer of White House documents

On January 19, local time, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to reject the lawsuit filed by former President Trump for trying to prevent the National Archives from handing over documents to the House Special Committee.

Documents involved in the incident reportedly included the president's journal, visitors' journal, handwritten documents of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, the folder of former White House press secretary Kelly McNani and a manuscript of the president's executive order on the fairness of the election.

On June 30, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives decided to create a democratic-led special committee to investigate the "facts, circumstances, and causes" of the congressional riots. The committee asked the National Archives, which houses white house archives, to provide "all documents and transcripts of communications within the White House" on the day of the Jan. 6 riots, including call records, schedules, and minutes of meetings involving senior Trump administration officials and outside advisers. But Trump said on Oct. 7 last year that he would exercise executive privilege by refusing to submit some of the above documents to Congress and filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court last December to prevent the National Archives from submitting his White House records to the House Special Committee.
