"Flying Arrival" explores the venues of the Winter Olympics

China Economic Network Beijing, January 18 (China Economic Network reporter Dong Jiapeng) The National Speed Skating Hall, located at No. 2, Lin Cui Road, Olympic Park, Chaoyang District, Beijing, is the only newly built ice competition venue in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With a design height of 33 meters and a main venue of about 80,000 square meters, the National Speed Skating Hall can accommodate about 12,000 spectators, and is a competition venue for speed skating events, where 14 gold medals will be born.

The exterior design of the 22 "ribbon"-like curved glass curtain walls of the National Speed Skating Hall has earned the National Speed Skating Hall the title of "Ice Ribbon". The design concept is taken from the idea of combining ice and speed – these "ribbon"-like curved glass curtain walls are like traces of athletes sliding by, symbolizing speed and passion. The 22 "ice ribbons" also symbolize the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The venue is built with a single-layer two-way orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof, which is currently the largest single-storey two-way orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof in the world's stadium venues, with a long span of about 200 meters and a short span of about 130 meters, realizing the first large-scale application of domestic high vanadium closed cable in large-scale domestic venues. The venue has a high-tech curved curtain wall system, which is assembled by 3360 curved glass units, and the 22 ribbons themselves are also an important part of the steel structure of the curtain wall, which can play a role in shading and energy saving. 3360 pieces of glass splicing out a free and smooth appearance of the oval surface, after the architect's geometric logic optimization, whether it is inward or outward curvature surface, all use the same radius of curvature, curved glass plate does not exceed 50%.

In order to create the "fastest ice", the National Speed Skating Hall uses carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling ice technology to produce the largest full ice surface in Asia of 12,000 square meters, with an ice surface temperature of minus 6 °C to 10.5 °C and an ice surface thickness of 2.5 cm. Compared with the traditional ice making method, the carbon dioxide direct cooling ice making system has excellent refrigeration performance and has its own environmental protection attributes. Carbon dioxide is directly transported to the site refrigeration coil for heat exchange, the heat transfer performance is good, and the heat exchange efficiency of the entire ice making system is higher. Moreover, carbon dioxide refrigeration can ensure that the ice surface temperature is constant, the ice surface quality is better, and the temperature of each part will not be different.

Speed skating is the oldest and most widely developed sport in skating. On 4 February 1763, the first 15 km speed skating race was held in England. In 1889, the first speed skating world championships were held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Men's speed skating and women's speed skating were included in the Winter Olympics in 1924 and 1960, respectively. At this Winter Olympics, the speed skating event is divided into men's and women's events, including 500 meters, 1000 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters, 10000 meters, team chase and group departure, a total of 14 sub-events.
