Recently, commentator Alain Shearer talked about Salah's contract extension in an interview with the Liverpool Echo, and Shearer said he believed Salah would stay at Liverpool.
This season, Salah has performed well in Liverpool, making 26 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring 23 goals. According to the Liverpool Echo, negotiations between Salah's representatives and the club are underway, and Salah's contract expires in one and a half years. Liverpool are looking to reward Salah as he continues to make an outstanding contribution after coming to Liverpool from Rome for £43.9 million in the summer of 2017.
In recent months, the Reds have renewed their contracts with a number of players, but Salah has yet to sign a new contract. Speaking recently about his future at Liverpool, Salah revealed he wasn't asking for a crazy salary and said his future at Anfield was no longer in his own hands.
"I want to stay, but it doesn't matter to me, it's up to Liverpool and they know what I want. I wasn't asking for anything crazy. ”
"I've been here for five years. I know the club very well, I love the fans and the fans love me. But for Liverpool, they already know what I want, so my future is in their hands. ”
Despite Salah's words, Shearer doesn't think Liverpool will let him go or sell Salah for free: "What he has done and accomplished at Liverpool is quite incredible, and I don't think Liverpool will let Salah get out of here for nothing. ”
"Salah says it's not a crazy thing and it may be difficult for fans to understand if you just think about the salary of the players; but that's Salah, and he also compares the salaries of the people around him."
