After the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression entered the stage of stalemate, the large-scale "sweeping" of the Japanese army, the blockade of the Kuomintang diehards, and serious natural disasters made the supply of materials to the anti-Japanese base areas extremely difficult. At a critical historical juncture, the CPC Central Committee and Comrade Mao Zedong called on the broad masses of the military and the people to carry out a large-scale production campaign to achieve self-sufficiency.
In 1941, the 359th Brigade of the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army followed the instructions of the Party Central Committee and marched to Nanniwan in batches, and the slogan of "one hammer and one gun, production and self-sufficiency to defend the Party Central Committee" resounded in the air over this land. In just 3 years, the warriors not only transformed the desolate Nanniwan into a beautiful "Northern Shaanxi Jiangnan", but also left a valuable spiritual wealth for future generations - the spirit of Nanniwan.
The 76-year-old Hou Xiuzhen is the daughter-in-law of Liu Baozhai, deputy company commander of the Ninth Company of the 719th Regiment of the former 359th Brigade. At the end of 2020, she raised 400,000 yuan to build a home style hall, displayed nearly 100 precious old photos from the large-scale production of Nanniwan, and explained the spirit of Nanniwan to tourists every day. The old cymbal head used by Liu Baozhai when he opened the wilderness has also been cherished by the old man, which has witnessed the magnificent Nanniwan production and also recorded the family style inheritance of Hou Xiuzhen's family. Hou Xiuzhen said: "Without the spirit of hard struggle and self-reliance, there will be no green water and green mountains, this is our Nanniwan spirit... The times are different, we must not forget the roots, we must carry the old shackles of the new era. ”
Sing the spirit of Nanniwan with songs to help the construction of "Good Jiangnan in Northern Shaanxi"
In 1943, the Yangge team of Yan'an Lu Xun Art School went to Nanniwan to offer condolences and carefully prepared the Song and Dance "Picking Flower Basket" for the 359th Brigade. "Nanniwan" is one of the interludes, the poet He Jingzhi combined his feelings about the military and civilian large-scale production movement in the border areas, especially the profound experience of the 359th Brigade to reclaim the barren Nanniwan, and the composer Marco used the tune of the northern Shaanxi folk songs to compose the music.
"The flowers of the flower basket, listen to us sing a song, sing a song..." The whole song has a beautiful melody, enthusiastically praising the heroic feat of the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army in transforming the desolate Nanniwan into "a good Jiangnan in northern Shaanxi", which was a great success in the condolence performance. Subsequently, this song "Nanniwan" quickly became popular in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and soon spread throughout the north and south of the great river, and the Nanniwan spirit of "hard work and self-reliance" spread from Yan'an to all parts of the country.

Jinpenwan Village, Madongchuan Township, Baota District, Yan'an City, is the site of the former site of the 359th Brigade. As a descendant of the veteran soldiers of the 359th Brigade, zhang Suosan, 53 years old this year, inherits his father's excellent qualities and always strictly demands himself by the standards of a Communist Party member. During his tenure as village chief, he took the lead in promoting rural revitalization and working with the villagers to build beautiful villages. In the development of emerging industries, the spirit of Nanniwan has a vivid portrayal. Lijiacha Town, Zichang City, Shaanxi Province, is rich in wind energy resources, and the local party and government use this advantage to build a green energy base and lead the masses to get rid of poverty and become rich. In the past two years, new energy industry workers have built 96 wind turbines in the local area, generating 600 million kWh of electricity a year, putting the local area on the road of sustainable development.
