Built in 1420, the Forbidden City, as a palace inhabited by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, can be said to have made great efforts in security.
First of all, the Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing City, with five lines of defense on the outskirts of the outer city, the inner city, the outer imperial city, the inner imperial city and the forbidden city itself. Moreover, the walls of the Forbidden City are 10 meters high, 9 meters wide at the bottom, and 7 meters at the top, such a wall in ancient times was almost like a bunker that could not be breached in ancient times. And there is a 52-meter-wide moat around the Forbidden City, which provides an insurmountable barrier for such a huge bunker. The gates of each palace were heavily guarded.
Inside the Forbidden City, in order to infiltrate the enemy by digging tunnels, the dirt was hollowed out around the main palaces and buried into special large bricks, with a thickness of nearly 6 meters. At the same time, an underground barrier was also built underground that could not be bored at all.
However, it was such a forbidden city that achieved the ultimate defensive measures, but in 1813 it was attacked by a group of peasant rebels, and directly pounded the Yangxin Hall, almost killing the princes and concubines in the palace.
During the Jiaqing period, due to rampant corruption, official corruption, and natural disasters, the people were not happy, so a secret organization "Tianli Sect" appeared near Beijing. The group, led by its leader Lin Qing, recruited disciples and secretly plotted to capture Beijing and drive the Qing rulers back to the northeast.
Lin Qing and others joined the Tianli Sect as eyeliners through the development of eunuchs in the palace, and finally launched an uprising on September 15, 1813, and li should join forces to invade the Forbidden City.
Although there were only a hundred Tianli Sect members who had invaded the Forbidden City, they fought all the way to kill someone and even attacked the Yangxin Hall. At that time, the Jiaqing Emperor was not in the palace, and the Forbidden City was commanded by the later Daoguang Emperor Min Ning with several princes. At the same time, the concubines in the Forbidden City began to prepare their vehicles to escape.
However, the Tianli Sect that finally invaded the Forbidden City was surrounded and suppressed by thousands of Qing soldiers who came to the Forbidden City because of their small number, and through three consecutive days of searching in the Forbidden City, more than thirty Tianli Sect members were finally captured in addition to the war dead.
The Jiaqing Emperor, who had returned to the Forbidden City, exclaimed in the face of such a situation: "How strong and prosperous I was before the Great Qing Dynasty, and now I have this matter!" He also issued a "crime against himself", saying that the "change of the Forbidden City" "caused something that had never happened between the Han, Tang, And Song Dynasties, and the Ming Dynasty. Thinking about this, I can't bear to say anything more. ”
The shock caused by this invasion of the Forbidden City was so that a few days after the incident subsided, the princes and ministers, the harem concubines, and the soldiers and eunuchs were still terrified, and when they mentioned this matter, they were shocked and talked about the tiger's discoloration. Even the eunuchs were so frightened that the public forgot the etiquette between the master and the slave, so much so that the Jiaqing Emperor had to give them the evil pill to calm the gods.
In the end, lin qing, the leader of the Tianli Sect, was executed on September 23 after being personally interrogated by the Jiaqing Emperor, and more than 300 people were punished by Ling Chi, filing corpses, hanging, and exile with canes, and issuing them to frontier slaves.
