Bai Juyi is a famous poet we are well known for, he was on fire when he was 16 years old, and he stayed in the Qinglou every day with the sworn party Yuan Shu to write poems, and lived a life like this, so the poems they wrote were generally very red dust. It was precisely because he was more playful when he was younger that he never got married until he was 37 years old.
His wife Yang Shi was the younger sister of Yin Yang Yuqing of Jingzhao Province, and her status was relatively noble. The two are together, the status is not much different, so it is favored by many people, and Bai Juyi also likes his wife. But the only regret of the two is that Bai Juyi is a poet, and his wife knows nothing about it and does not know how to appreciate it.
But for Bai Juyi, the early life is more debauched, and it is not easy to find a wife and a woman of a famous family. On the day of the wedding, Bai Juyi was very happy, suddenly came to be interested, wrote a poem to his wife, which sounded like a more romantic thing, so that many women envied, but Bai Juyi may not have thought of it himself, obviously it was a love poem written for his wife, but he suffered from the discussion of women in the world, and his wife even rolled her eyes, saying that he was too domineering.

The poem is divided into four sections. The first paragraph is the first two sentences: "Born as a roommate, and died as a cave dust." "It shows that it is already a husband and wife, and we will live and die together from now on." The second paragraph, from the third sentence to the fourteenth sentence, consists of twelve sentences, educating the Yang clan to learn from the typical examples of ancient sage women. At once, he listed four typical examples of Qian Lou's wife, Ji Lack of wife, Tao Qian's wife and Liang Hong's wife, all of which are the 'role models' of poor and lowly couples, wives who handle housework and respect their husbands like guests, hoping that the Yang family can follow their example and inherit good traditions.
The third paragraph from the fifteenth sentence to the twenty-second sentence, a total of eight sentences, from the typical to the real life, explaining how to live a peaceful and poor life, food and clothing, do not pursue a luxurious life, rough clothes and vegetables, diligent and thrifty family. The fourth paragraph is the last six sentences, asking the Yang family to remember the ancestral instructions, live a poor life with him, and maintain the traditions of the Yang family.
The beginning of the poem is mainly to explain that they are married, and from then on the two will live and die together, etc., probably determined, can see that he is still relatively satisfied with this marriage, so far, Bai Juyi's personality is still a good husband.
However, starting from the third sentence of the second part, it is taught that his wife Yang Shi should abide by the way of women, use the deeds of the ancients as an example, and let the Yang clan learn from them, originally the deeds of these ancients are nothing special, but to mix these examples together, I feel that he is a bit "macho", and may also make people feel that some strong people are difficult. Bai Juyi used four people as an example to guide the Yang family:
The first Qianlou was a relatively poor talent, married a rich lady, who not only did not dislike him, but also worked with him to do farm work. The second Ji Que was also very poor, and his wife would bring him food every day, and he was still on his knees. The third Tao Qian's wife was Tao Yuanming's wife, and after Tao Yuanming resigned and went into hiding, she also went to her hometown to live together. The fourth wife of Liang Hong, after she married Liang Hong, never pursued wealth too much, always relied on her own meritocracy and diligence, and Raised Eyebrows with Liang Hongju, so she was widely praised by people at that time.
The above four people are the image of a good wife and a good mother, and it is a great fortune to meet one of them, but Bai Juyi puts the four of them together, hoping that his wife will be like them. The third part seems to be even more excessive, Bai Juyi is teaching his wife how to live a hard life, and the last paragraph is afraid that his wife is too demanding, so he takes out the ancestral precepts to teach his wife to obey.
In this way, we can see how high Bai Juyi's requirements are, and he asks his wife not only to do the behavior of those four people, so as to show that if he becomes poor one day, he must also let his wife live a hard life like him, otherwise it is against the ancestral precepts.
The whole poem is as clear as words, as usual. The poet tirelessly preaches the family training for his wife with the past and the present, even if the words "with the old man and the same heart" appear at the end, which seems very beautiful. However, when we taste it carefully, our hearts will be cold.
Why do you say that? We know that when Bai Juyi was young, he once had a first love of a green plum bamboo horse, called Xiang Ling. For the sake of Xiang Ling, Bai Juyi did not have to marry the current Yang clan until he was in his 30s under the orders of his parents. Therefore, for the Yang family, he has no love at all.
In addition, according to historical records, Yang Shi did not understand the writing and ink, and did not understand the meaning of the poem at all. Bai Juyi's poem is completely an official text, and it is estimated that it was also written for the parents of both sides to see, and there is no trace of stirring feelings at all.
