It is also said that chicken is yangjing, and yang can make yin. In addition, some people cite the so-called "bamboo chicken crying in the house, and termites turn into mud" in the "Compendium of Materia Medica", believing that chickens have the function of eliminating ant infestations. However, the bamboo chicken does not seem to be a chicken, and this statement may not be true. Hu Xinsheng's book "Ancient Chinese Witchcraft" pointed out that in the Warring States period, the folk had the habit of "hanging chickens in households" to drive away hundreds of ghosts, and during the Southern Dynasty, the folk gradually popularized the custom of sticking chicken paintings. In southern Fujian, the thing related to the evil function of chickens is the wind chicken. Like the wind lion of the Golden Gate, the wind chicken has always been regarded as "one of the folk beliefs unique to the Little Golden Gate, the mascot of the Little Golden Gate, the patron saint of the village and the house." Regarding the origin of the wind chicken, there has always been a legend in Xiaojinmen, that is: "The ancestors of Lieyu Island were deeply suffering from wind disasters and insect pests, because there was no way to ask for help, the villagers erected the wind chicken at the mouth of the village or on the roof, so as to calm the wind, kill termites, and protect the house to ensure safety." Wind chicken because of the clay body painted white, also known as white chicken, due to the change of time and space, Lieyu no longer has wind and insect pests, but the wind chicken is still standing tall, the spirit is strong, and the qi Yuxuan defends the land of Lieyu. "However, in recent years, due to the collection of wind, I have successively found some relics of wind chickens similar to Xiaojinmen in Dongshan, Zhao'an and Nanjing in Zhangzhou, the most typical of which are the wind chickens in dongshan Tongshan Ancient City and Zhao'an Meiying She's village. The idea that the wind chicken is unique to the little Golden Gate is likely to be the same kind of cultural creation, but it is not true.
