The 2021 Central Economic Work Conference listed "correctly understanding and grasping carbon neutrality at peak carbon" as one of the new major theoretical and practical issues facing the mainland in the new development stage, pointing out that "achieving carbon peak carbon neutrality is an inherent requirement for promoting high-quality development, and it is necessary to unswervingly advance, but it is impossible to make full contributions", and made clear arrangements on how to promote implementation.

Energy conservation and carbon reduction require multi-party efforts, measures to land, but also the participation and action of the whole people. In March 2021, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other three departments released 18 new occupations to the society, of which the position of "carbon emission administrator" was quite interesting. How to do and how to do carbon neutrality work, they have their own experience in the front line. We invited four carbon administrators to tell their stories and asked experts to advise on how to advance the "double carbon" work as a whole.

I have been responsible for energy conservation management for more than 6 years, and in July 2021, I successfully passed the training and became a carbon emission manager.

Every day, I monitor hundreds of energy consumption data. In order to "take" these data, I immersed myself in the study of the process flow, material direction and energy distribution, and gradually mastered the company's production process and key energy consumption indicators.

Water, electricity, steam and coal consumption indicators are my monitoring priorities. Once the data is found to be abnormal, I will call the process technicians of the production unit as soon as possible and guide them to overhaul and adjust. After busy with the work at hand, I will also check the production equipment to see if there is any leakage phenomenon, correct excessive emissions in time, and minimize energy consumption.

In addition to sudden overhauls, we often deal with technicians. I still remember a seminar after the "double carbon" training, "You said let's do it" became a sentence they repeatedly said. When the company checked the implementation of carbon allowances in early 2021, it found that 85,000 tons of emission reductions must be completed. After we informed the production unit of this situation, the technicians said the same thing almost in unison. In fact, urging carbon reduction not only needs us to talk about the big truth, but also needs us to talk about how to do it well, and work with technical personnel to implement carbon reduction into every detail.

To this end, my colleagues and I analyzed the data overnight, sorted out the main line of saving steam, electricity, and increasing carbon sequestration products, and discussed the refinement plan with the technical personnel. Each production unit has also formulated a technological reform plan to transform equipment, optimize processes, increase production load under existing conditions, and do everything possible to reduce energy consumption. After some hard work, the goal was finally reached.

In the new year, as the "double carbon" work becomes more and more important, I think there will be more carbon emission managers on the production line. Through our efforts, we have saved costs for enterprises and improved the level of production and operation, and these small achievements have made me love this job even more.

Energy saving and consumption reduction, the old oil field is rejuvenated

As of 2021, the total energy consumption and intensity of Shengli Oilfield have decreased for 7 consecutive years, relying on what? As a participant in the energy conservation work of the oilfield, I think the biggest secret is these 16 words: the courage to take responsibility, science and technology first, continuous efforts, and long-term achievements.

After decades of development and construction, Shengli Oilfield has gradually shown the "three highs" symptoms of high comprehensive water content, high energy cost and high energy consumption, which is a common "geriatric disease" in the later stage of oilfield development. In 2014, the oilfield issued a prescription for "energy efficiency improvement", and our Gudong Oil Production Plant has organized and implemented projects such as the integration adjustment of the injection and production structure of 3-4 units in the fourth district of the Gudong Oilfield and the energy efficiency improvement of the regional integration of the East Sanlian Region.

As a carbon emission administrator, I am mainly responsible for the research and development and promotion of energy-saving technology in the oil production plant, carbon asset management, the construction and operation of the energy control center and the standardization of energy conservation, and participate in the construction of new energy projects in the oil production plant. To do these work, we must not only understand the policies, understand the standards, but also understand all kinds of related technologies, through our work, let everyone feel the real changes brought by green and low-carbon, and firmly "plant" the seeds of green development in the production line and spread to people's hearts.

In the early years, the heating furnaces and steam injection boilers used for crude oil heating were all fueled by crude oil, and the flue gas emissions were polluting and the carbon emission intensity was high. After 2017, the oilfield fully implemented the adjustment of the energy-using structure, and the fuel oil was changed to natural gas, transforming from high carbon to low carbon. Some joint stations also adopt more advanced technology, more energy-saving, more environmentally friendly waste heat heating technology for extracted water, which realizes the comprehensive utilization of resources. Just to say that the waste heat project of the two joint stations of our Gudong oil production plant has an annual greenhouse gas emission reduction capacity of 15,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

In 2021, the oilfield anchored the "double carbon" target, issued a timetable and roadmap, greatly increased the proportion of new energy use, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions more considerably. There are also our efforts and painstaking efforts. For example, from the perspective of energy consumption, if the water injection, oil production, collection and transportation system is regarded as a person, this person is undoubtedly bloated; if you want to lose weight, it is not a single reduction that can be achieved, but to rely on a series of measures such as exercise and diet control to "shape the whole". Therefore, we put forward the idea of integrated energy efficiency improvement and promoted it throughout the oilfield. This research won the first prize of ministerial scientific and technological progress, and promoted the upgrading of energy-saving technology from single equipment transformation to systematic, intelligent and comprehensive transformation.

In the past year, what makes us most happy and excited is that General Secretary Xi Jinping came to the Lai 113 block of Shengli Oilfield in Laizhou Bay, Dongying City, in October last year to understand the research and development and application of carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage technology. The general secretary's voice and exhortation made us extremely excited, and we seemed to have endless energy.

Right now, the annual carbon inventory is underway, and I'm working with other carbon managers to sort through all the greenhouse gas emissions and account for carbon emissions. I also participated in the new motor selection experiment, in order to find the most cost-effective, energy-saving effect of the motor, with the smallest can do the greatest work, so that our oil field is more vibrant.

Do a good job of addition and subtraction, be a good enterprise "carbon steward"

More than 10 years ago, I came to Huzhou, Zhejiang from my hometown of Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and entered Zhejiang Huilong New Materials Co., Ltd. to work, doing the work of helping the boss save the company's electricity. At that time, I was called "Zhang Electrician", and now I have a new identity as a "carbon steward".

I remember the first time I went to the enterprise workshop, I found that many equipment models are old, energy utilization efficiency is low, I said to the boss Shen Shunhua: These old equipment has not been able to keep up with the situation, we must pay close attention to eliminating, so as to save electricity and save money. The boss felt that it made sense, and immediately took me to Beijing to purchase 10 sets of the most advanced spinning and spinning production equipment in China at that time. After a few months of use, these new guys have really saved a lot of electricity, and the quality of products has also improved a lot.

Today, more than 200 new equipment has all been "put on the job", and production efficiency has increased by 30%. I calculated that in the past 10 years, more than 200 million yuan has been spent on equipment, and the consumption of electricity has dropped by 35%, saving a lot of money.

Electricity consumption is the bulk of the energy consumption of textile enterprises, and power saving depends on technological innovation. As soon as I had time, I ran to the color spinning laboratory, which is a place that specializes in the process of coloring fibers with stock solutions. This process is to add colorant in the spinning process, spinning and coloring at the same time, eliminating the dyeing process, directly producing colored fibers, reducing a large amount of wastewater and carbon dioxide emissions.

A drop of water, a drop of oil, a degree of electricity... If these "small costs" that are easily overlooked are saved, they will become a "big resource". One day in 2018, when I went to the roof of the workshop to inspect the electrical cabinet room, it occurred to me that a "power plant" could be built on the roof. This idea was adopted by the boss again, and a solar photovoltaic power station was built on the roof of the two factories, with a total construction area of about 20,000 square meters, using a "spontaneous self-use" model. The roof of the factory building, which is sheltered from the wind and rain on weekdays, has become the power source of the workshop equipment, which can generate 1 million kWh of electricity per year, save 800,000 yuan in electricity costs, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,000 tons.

As the "carbon steward" of the enterprise, I have explored a set of scientific and reasonable energy-saving and consumption-reduction solutions, however, I will also encounter situations that colleagues do not understand from time to time. In 2019, when I looked at the electrical cabinet room, I found that there was a big gap in the electricity consumption of the same type of air compressor at different times, so I proposed: launch an energy visualization system to monitor the energy consumption of each set of equipment in real time. When the workshop supervisors heard that the system had to invest more than 5 million yuan in full operation, they felt that it was unnecessary.

But I still didn't want to give up, so I let the technicians quietly "experiment" on an air compressor: install a sensor on the device, and then use the mobile phone App to detect. After a few days of measurement, I really found a problem, which turned out to be a blockage in the oil circuit of the equipment that led to power consumption.

If the experiment is successful, the confidence will be there. Today, this visual monitoring system has been fully enabled, and relevant personnel can view the operation status and data analysis of each set of production equipment on the mobile app in real time, saving energy and improving resource utilization efficiency. Through this incident, colleagues' understanding of energy conservation and consumption reduction has become more unified.

Doing "addition and subtraction" in energy saving and consumption reduction is actually "making small calculations and calculating big accounts", which is good for enterprises and the entire environment. I love this job and will definitely continue to be a good "carbon steward".

Use little bits of action to merge into a green synergy

It is not easy to make a "clear account" for the carbon emissions of enterprises. At the end of last year, I looked for the public works department to come to the electricity details, looked for the factory department to ask for fuel and gas purchase and sale records, and then looked for the business department to produce monthly reports, and to find the personnel department to ask employees to work hours... After getting a large number of reports, I went to the distribution room, production workshop, exhaust gas outlet and other places to check the field, record the meter number, electricity consumption, measure emissions and concentration, and also check the refrigerant requisitions and attendance. All this data can be fed into a computer to get an accurate account of carbon emissions.

I used to be a security manager for the company, but I volunteered to participate in training and study, obtained a qualification certificate, and became a new carbon emissions manager. To land the "double carbon" goal, we must first find the emission data. We, the carbon emission administrators, are to accurately calculate the carbon emissions of the enterprise and make the pace of green development of the enterprise more solid.

To be a qualified carbon administrator, you have to use your brain all the time. Our company mainly produces laptop keyboards, desktop computer keyboards, painting, printing links pollution, high energy consumption. How can we reduce low carbon and save energy? Through the analysis of the report, search for information, multi-party investigation, I proposed a plan to upgrade the entire workshop, including changing the original sprayed oil-based paint to water-based paint, using another ink printing, adding waste gas treatment equipment such as water spin treatment and water spray mixing treatment. After the completion of the transformation, the exhaust gas emission reduction effect is obvious, and the purification efficiency exceeds 90%.

The products are greener and more environmentally friendly, and the order volume has also increased, realizing energy saving and emission reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement. Later, I put forward suggestions such as "incandescent lamps are replaced by LED lights" and "the temperature of the central air conditioner outlet is adjusted to 26 degrees", and through the production of slogans, short videos and short dramas, etc., I called on more colleagues to say no to uncivilized behaviors such as wasting water, electricity, and paper, and to reduce carbon emissions from the details. In less than a year, the company has saved more than 300,000 kWh of electricity.

"If you don't save money, you can't make a family, and it depends on everyone to save money." After becoming a carbon administrator, I myself am constantly improving. Not only do we always learn to supplement the professional knowledge of energy conservation and emission reduction, but also take the initiative to assume the responsibility of low-carbon propaganda messengers in life. My biggest wish is to bring the people around me together to move together, and use the little actions to gather into a green synergy.
