37 + 38 years old – they broke 2 'national records'

Athletics Base Camp, January 17, 2022

On January 16, the Houston Marathon in the United States, two new national records were born.

In the women's all-Horse, 37-year-old Keira D'Amato won the title with a good time of 2 hours 19 minutes and 12 seconds, rewriting the national record set by Deena Kastor in 2006 - 2 hours 19 minutes and 36 seconds.

Keira D'Amato is legendary! She hung up her boots for 7 years from 2009 to 2016. Then, she came back and got better and better! Today, as a mother of two children, she has set a national record in Malaysia at the age of 37!

Let's take a look at her dash in this battle —

In the women's half-horse competition, the 38-year-old Sara Hall ran 1 hour, 07 minutes and 15 seconds, and finished second, setting a new American record.

The winner of the women's half horse was Kenya's Vicoty Chepngeno, whose result was 1:05:03, the fastest record (All-comers) on North American soil.

The men's all-marathon winner was James Ngandu of Kenya with a time of 2:11:03, which was his first horse.

The winner of the men's half was Ethiopia's Milkesa Mengesha, with a time of 1:00:24.
