On February 11, local time, at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational Indoor Athletics Invitational held in Boston, USA, Gabriela Debues-Stafford, a Canadian-born girl in 1995, ran 14:31.38 in the women's 5000 meters to win the championship and set a new North American record.

This achievement made her the fifth person in history. The world record was set by Ethiopia's Genzebe Di Baba at 14:18.86 in 2015.
Notice that it is an indoor women's 5000 meters!
In the Boston Indoors, the second place in the women's 5,000 meters was Elise Cranny of the United States, with a score of 14:33.17, a new national record.
Another American, Courtney Frerichs, ran 14:48.75 to finish third. She was runners-up in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the Tokyo Olympics.
Champion Gabrielle Debs-Stafford finished fifth in the women's 1500m at the Tokyo Olympics (3:58.93). On February 6 of this year, she just set a national record of 8:33.92 in the indoor 3,000 meters in Boston.
At the Feb. 11 race, her sister Lucia Stafford won the Women's 1 Mile championship at 4:24.42, a record of PB.
