8 Sketch Techniques Revealed
1． Meditate
In the very beginning of painting, an important training content is the training of the mind, which is very similar to the monk's meditation. You have to immerse yourself in what you're going to paint in front of your eyes, maybe a few seconds. If you are always impetuous, it is better to spend a little more time, this is the training of "meditation", which the master of landscape painting Zong Bing calls "Cheng Huai Wei Xiang".
2． Pro Master
There is no other magic weapon in my teaching, which can be summed up in three words: learning master. There is another way, called "translation", that is, to draw the line into light and shade, or to draw the light and shade into a line, which is like a translation. 3． Line drawing training

4． Experience the game of touch

5． From small paintings to large paintings
Painting a small painting the size of a palm is easy to grasp the whole, and this training is aimed at the appearance characteristics and the sense of wholeness. In the past, when I was a student, I drew several small sketchbooks that could be put in my pocket, and the people who drew were too small, so that you could only see the whole, and the training of the sense of wholeness was achieved by drawing villains. I call it "Gulliver's Travels", Gulliver first went to the villain country and then went to the adult country, just like the pixel drawing training, first draw the small, then change the big paper to draw the big, then draw the bigger, and finally you can draw a huge face, very effective. You can see a small thing as big as well, and at the same time you can treat a huge thing as a small thing, called "ruling a big country like cooking a small fresh" to control a small painting that is as big as a painting and a palm. Both of these states are important, to be able to achieve arbitrary transformation, so that the understanding of the appearance, the grasp and understanding of the whole will be in place.
6． CT-style painting method
There is also a training that is very similar to checking the body in the hospital to take CT slices, cutting them off piece by piece, and the doctor will see what is wrong inside. This workout is aimed at volumetric sense. The training method is to draw a large perspective and a large angle of large pitch, with the purpose of understanding the complex changes in volume through the observation and understanding of the cross-section of the object.

Short-term training is to draw quickly. Generally when painting, the brain stops, the thinking also stops, maybe a few hours of homework have passed, and it feels very, very fast. You'll say, "It's still morning, how come it's dark in a moment."
8． Experience instead of observation
The training method is always bipolar, one is a simple way, you can draw sketches; and the other is to draw very finely, both of which are very effective and cannot be substituted for each other.
The purpose of long-term training is to replace observation with experience. Depicting it in infinite detail will put you into a state similar to hypnosis, under which there are two experiences: one is that time has disappeared, as if entering deep meditation; the other is that the spiritual character of the things in front of you slowly emerges. Observation is not enough, you have to reach a stage of experience to enter the best state of haptic sketching.
