So tournaments are worth more to the winning horse.

I think the Hong Kong Championship can be simply divided into three categories, the first is Hong Kong's unique event, commemorating or celebrating Hong Kong's big day, such as the National Day Cup on October 1, the July 1st Hong Kong Return to the Motherland Cup or the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Cup to be held at the end of 2021. The second category is the traditional events that have been held for many years, such as the Chairman's Championship, the Dapian Competition, the Guangdong Concession Cup, etc., and there are also some friendly group title events such as the Hong Kong Club Challenge Cup and the Hong Kong Golf Club Centennial Commemorative Cup. The third category is the events sponsored by commercial organizations, some of which overlap with the second category, because some commercial institutions will choose to sponsor events with a considerable history, such as the annual Longines Hong Kong International Competition, the Sasha Women's Silver Bag Competition, the BMW Hong Kong Pyridocy Competition, etc., and some sponsors like to organize other cups, such as the Qishi Cup, the Music Cup, etc.

Winning a tournament is both an achievement and an honor, and the winner certainly wants to keep that hard-won trophy. However, in some events, jockeys and trainers only touch the trophy after the award moment, and the trophy is saved by the Jockey Club and awarded to the champion of the new year with the same trophy next year. For this type of exquisite trophy that has been passed down from generation to generation, the Jockey Club should perhaps consider exhibiting them for the public to enjoy.

For the more prominent awards, many people may pick women's silver bags and silver coins; but I will choose the Scottish St. Andu Challenge Disc (see picture). Traditionally, Scottish bagpipes are played and the trophy is filled with whiskey, allowing the winner to sip a bite of Scottish produce when winning. Unfortunately, today's champion jockey has no chance to celebrate the wine.

If there is a special story and memorable one, it is the American Clubhouse Cup. In the 1938 Cup, a total of 33 colts signed up to participate, but when the owner of the horse Yu Dongxuan's name, the "Camerons" also announced their participation, because it was too strong, other uninformed people refused to participate, and those who signed up also withdrew, and finally only one colt was left, "Camerons". As a result, the jockey only had to ride the "Cameron" symbolically pacing across the finish line to win, and the horse club would not accept bets for this reason, but the trophy would be awarded.

"The event was deserted, everyone was quite bored, and the American Clubhouse Cup was discontinued the following year." "The American Society later understood that not giving face was not to give face to everyone, but because the opponent was too strong, so it sponsored the event again in the early seventies," said an old friend.
