Pebble Beach will host four U.S. Women's Opens and four U.S. Opens starting in 2023

The American Golf Association USGA and the prestigious golf resort Pebble Beach today announced a landmark partnership to advance golf.

Pebble Beach will host four U.S. Women's Opens and four U.S. Opens starting in 2023

Next, Pebble Beach will host four U.S. Opens in 2027, 2032, 2037 and 2044; in 2023, 2035, 2040 and 2048, Pebble Beach will host four more U.S. Women's Opens. Such an arrangement would give both men's and women's players the opportunity to play at the highest level on this iconic pitch. In addition, the U.S. Evergreen Open and the U.S. Evergreen Women's Open will be held at the same location for the first time in 2030, hosted by The Pebble Beach Resort's Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

"Forging a relationship with Pebble Beach, a national treasure, is a historic step forward for golf," said Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA U.S. High Court, "In addition to hosting the U.S. Open, USGA and Pebble Beach will work together to ensure that the tournaments are more diverse, more popular and more publicly known." It's a pleasure to work with them and we have a like-minded vision. ”

David Stivers, CEO of Pebble Beach, said, "It is an honor to deepen our long-standing relationship with USGA that will benefit the sport of golf in the coming years. We are proud that Pebble Beach Golf Links was the first public course to host the U.S. Open in 1972. Golfers from all over the world have the opportunity to play at Pebble Beach and follow in the footsteps of champions. The conclusion of the partnership will also allow this legacy to last for a long time to come and have a lasting impact on the game. ”

This long-term partnership will allow the U.S. GHS and Pebble Beach Resort to invest and collaborate in new and innovative ways to enhance the on-field experience for players, fans, partners and the media.

The USGA's relationship with Pebble Beach began at the 33rd U.S. Amateur Championship in 1929. In its first 100 years, Pebble Beach hosted 13 U.S. GHF tournaments, including six U.S. Opens, five U.S. Amateur Championships, and two U.S. Women's Amateur Championships. Over the next 25 years, it hosted 10 U.S. GP championships.

Over the years, the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach has been full of drama. In 1972, Jack Nicklaus hit the flagpole on the 17th hole with a No. 1 iron to secure victory; in 1982, Tom Watson made a birdie on the same hole, blocking Jack's fifth victory; in 1992, veteran Tom Kite made a birdie on Course 7, winning in the wind; in 2000, Tiger Woods won the most dominant victory in Grand Slam history at the 100th U.S. Open; and in 2010, Graham Kite made a birdie on Course 7 and won in the wind; In 2000, Tiger Woods won the most dominant victory in Grand Slam history at the 100th U.S. Open; and in 2010, Graeme Watson won the most dominant victory in Grand Slam history; and in 2010, Graham Kite. McDowell won the title by beating three Grand Slam titles, including Woods, and in 2019, Gary Woodland scored a heroic second shot with a three-wood on the 14th hole, successfully preventing Brooks Koepka from winning the U.S. Open for the third consecutive time. 2019 is also the 100th anniversary of Pebble Beach.

In addition to future tournaments, the U.S. High School and Pebble Beach are developing community-based programs that create internships and other career opportunities for the next generation of industry leaders. The expanded partnership also includes a joint initiative with the U.S. GHRC's Greens Division to contribute to the common goal of creating an environmentally and economically sustainable, enjoyable golf experience through a research center that invests in turf and water conservation.

To build a partnership, our goal is to create opportunities for the greats of the future of golf, to train the next generation of golf leaders, to develop new technologies for a sustainable future, and to follow the legends who have walked through this sacred land before that! Vann said.

"Supporting youth education is a pillar of outreach in our communities, and this partnership will dramatically increase opportunities for young people to pursue careers in this industry," Steves said, "For more than 30 years, the golf courses in pebble Beach and its vicinity have been the most successful water reclamation programs on California's Central Coast; the U.S. GHRC will also provide powerful new technologies and research to help pioneer innovations in water conservation." ”

Next, Pebble Beach will host a U.S. High School Championships competition almost every five or six years, and it will become the iconic venue of the U.S. Open along with Pine Bush Resort and OakMan Country Club.
