Beijing News Express (reporter Zhang Jianlin) Recently, the smart highway Beidou Tunnel positioning signal expansion system completed the equipment deployment and commissioning of nearly 50 kilometers of tunnels, and successfully carried out trial operation, providing an important guarantee for the full monitoring and emergency rescue of vehicles in the zhangjiakou transfer section of the Winter Olympic Games.

The system is jointly developed by Transportation Communication Information Group Co., Ltd. and Aerospace Long March Rocket Technology Co., Ltd. (National Engineering Research Center for Satellite Navigation Applications), mainly serving the main highway channel of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games - Yanqing to Chongli Expressway Hebei Section, and the successful operation of the system has achieved full coverage of the Beidou signal in this section (including tunnels).

It is reported that the transfer section of the Winter Olympics should be monitored by the Beidou-3 satellite navigation system for vehicles during transportation to ensure timely perception of vehicle status and rapid and efficient rescue according to location information.

Zhangjiakou race area transfer section of the Hebei section is located in Chongli Chongqiu District, bridge-tunnel ratio of more than 56%, when the vehicle is driving in the tunnel, the Beidou signal is blocked by the tunnel mountain, the positioning terminal can not work properly, the supervision system can not timely perceive the vehicle abnormality, there are major safety hazards.

"The Beidou tunnel positioning signal expansion system deployed this time can fully restore the Beidou satellite signal in reality, provide real-time location services in the tunnel without changing the existing satellite navigation and positioning terminals, realize seamless supervision of vehicles in the whole section, improve the emergency handling capacity of tunnel accidents, and also provide safety supervision services for special vehicles." Guo Xiaoming, project leader of Transportation Communication Information Group Co., Ltd., said.

Ji Haifu, a technician of Aerospace Long March Rocket Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that the system is complex in composition, and it is necessary to consider the special deployment environment of highways and tunnels, the technical difficulty is large, the cost control requirements are high, the installation and deployment and test calibration restrictions are many, and there is no mature technical solution to learn from.

To this end, the R&D team comprehensively uses key technologies such as tunnel spatial navigation signal coverage optimization and integrated elastic networking inside and outside the tunnel to deploy Beidou satellite navigation signal broadcast equipment in the tunnel to ensure that the driving status of vehicles in the tunnel can be obtained in real time, ensure the safety of tunnel driving, and avoid the occurrence of major traffic accidents.

"The Beidou Tunnel Positioning Signal Extension System will provide seamless location services and emergency rescue for all winter Olympic vehicles, and provide full-process intelligent transportation services for the Beijing Winter Olympics." Guo Xiaoming said.
