Three monks carry water to drink

Three monks carry water to drink

There is a temple on the hill, and there are three monks living in the temple. One is small, one is fat, and one is particularly thin. The three monks do not interfere with each other's lives.

The little monk went down the mountain every day to fetch water, and then meditated and chanted, and his life was very comfortable. The thin monk only chanted the sutra every day, and from time to time he had to go to the little monk to ask for water to drink. Every day, after the fat monk finished chanting, he ran down the mountain to pick up a bucket of water, and then drank it all by himself.

It's been a long time and everyone has an opinion. The thin monk who picked up the water himself also drank, and the fat monk only drank it after picking up the water. So they discussed going down the mountain together to fetch water to drink, but the thin monk was not happy, and wanted to drink all the water they picked up, and the fat monk must have drunk the most. In this way, the discussion was not happy. Everyone stopped going down to fetch water to drink, and when the water was thirsty, they ran down the mountain to drink enough to come up.

But it's summer, and it's getting hotter. The three monks had to go down the mountain several times a day to drink water. But no one wants to carry water to drink.

One night, probably because it was so dry that it caught fire, it broke the three of them. So they scrambled to go down the mountain to fetch water to extinguish the fire. After the fire was extinguished, all three of them understood that they not only needed to carry water every day to fill themselves, but also to save a little water just in case.

Later, the three of them took turns carrying water, and everyone had water to drink, and there was also rich water for emergency needs.

major principle

A fire taught the three monks a lesson and learned to unite and cooperate. This story tells us that only by taking responsibility for each other and working together can we overcome difficulties and share benefits.
